Becoming Jane
Watched "Becoming Jane", starring Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy.
Movie about the love life of one of the greatest female novelist of all times, Jane Austen. 6 of her Eng novels were celebrated in the literary world... including "Sense and Sensibility", "Pride And Prejudice" and "Emma". Jane Austen wrote romance novels with happy endings, but her own love relationship with a Irish dashing lawyer-to-be Tom Lefroy, was a short-lived one.
They met and bickered at 1st... sort of disliked each other. The dance at the ball saw how Jane was charmed by Tom, and Tom taught writer Jane how to be "on par with masculine authors" thru a book. Love found its way the night b4 Tom left the Austens family. 20 yr old Jane wanted to be with Tom, despite Mr. Wisley was a much more suitable candidate for her (he was from a wealthy family whereas Tom and his family depended on his judge uncle for survival). Well, his uncle objected to their marriage after seeing a letter, so Jane went back to Hampshire. After some time, Tom Lefroy went looking for her, even though he was engaged. They eloped, but halfway thru... Jane realised their future together were faced with too many obstacles... she gave up.
Jane Austen din marry all her life. Tom Lefroy became Chief Justice and named her eldest daughter "Jane". Hmm... according to wiki... Lefroy said it was "boyish love" with Jane Austen. They did flirted but no one knew for sure how far their relationship went though.
I was curious, so I went looking for the real images of Tom Lefroy and Jane Austen...
Hehe... Tom Lefroy does look kinda charming, but Jane Austen's... hmm looks a bit old in the portrait.
Anyway, James McAvoy portrayed Tom Lefroy so well! Flirtatious, charming, irresistable and persistent... to a certain extent haha. Liked Anne Hathaway too... but her UK accent wasn't strong enough... as compared when all actors and actresses from that film was from UK. Still, her huge, round "talking eyes" were beautiful, really. Oh of cos... I think I liked tat Eng时代... 景色迷人... 虽然我不是很想知道当时的复杂、封建和腐坏haha。
