The Time Traveler's Wife
HC101's lect on "metaphor" today was alright. 柯思仁教授给我们看了陈子谦导演的最新短片，“小纸条”. 15mins and we actualli saw many "metaphors" from "lotus" in the film. 背景音乐那叫人感动的钢琴旋律一响起... 有震撼力喔. Poor YY was weeping after the show... maybe cos她和片里的男主角一样，都是离乡背井的关系吧.
After tat, YY, MT, SS and I went off to the bus stop while Michelle, XY, LC and WT went for lunch in sch haha. SS was off to meet her SP mates whilst the other 3 of us decided to catch "The Time Traveler's Wife" at West Mall after lunch-ing there. My Hokkien mee ($4) was okie.
Hmm, maybe my expectations for this film was higher. The "too-many-time-travelling-trips" were making me rather confused. Honestly, It's hard for me to put 100% concentration into watching a show. *MT seems to be very gd at this though.* I pity the wife at times... I mean falling in love with "uncertainty".

I bought Himalaya's peel-off mask ($10.90) to try... since the last brand I used (from Spain I think). YY gt her fake eyelashes... the youngest among the 9 of us seems to quite know about cosmetics stuff ah haha. Anyway, a random pic of us which MT took haha.
I think YY looks a bit like my cousin, XY though haha. Her "pattern" lol.
MT went home after tat, while YY accompanied to JW NLB to borrow J.K.Rowling's "The Tales of Beetle The Bard". Guess whr I found this bk in the lib? Children's section... "aged 10-12yrs old" somemore~ faint lol. YY then took 199 back to her hostel, and I went to take 179 to Chi lib to print notes.
*Oh yeah saw this pushcart at West Mall selling country style stuff and they all looked so nice. I tot of WZ the min I saw tat haha!*
Met WZ and we went for the seminar Dr Xu arranged for us. It was supposedly a "live broadcast" over the internet to students in Japan and USA as well. Mr Sanjeev Chatterjee, director for Knightcenter for International Media intro-ed the "World Cities Project" to us students in SG. They were encouraging students all over the world (inspiring journalism students) to participate in this new media project ppt... producing 3-7mins news (in vid format) and putting it on a platform... thereby sharing with the world.
I went home and juz watched one of the vids at mediastorm.org. It was entitled "Family Farm", done by Danny Wilcox Fraser... talking about the destiny of family farms in Iowa, the struggle of keeping it or losing the culture forever. Short 6+mins but it does have a rather strong impact on us viewers... it makes us stop to ponder and think about cherishing/continuing cultures.
*Yes I do dream of travelling far and learning about cultures in other parts of the world...*
Had dinner at JP with WZ. Gosh I had the most expensive菜饭meal in my life so far~ sotong + green veggie + fried prawns + rice (curry sauce) = $6.50! When the person told me the price, I was like!? Doi... though it was rather nice... I will make sure I be careful in choosing the dishes nex time when I buy from this stall haha.
