5/10/10: 苏州!

TY bought a高铁ticket to苏州at RMB41, and a动车站票back to Shanghai at RMB35. Karen and I woke up at 6am on 5th Oct, and we walked to复旦正门to meet TY, TH and his gf, LH. They were all Karen's classmate... and TH and LH were born in like 1992 I think? So young la... TY's born in China, but went to Canada since young, and studied there till he came to Shanghai for uni studies.
Anyway, we took a bus to上海站, had KFC burger for breakfast... and dang the station was flooded with ppl since it was then in the midst of China's national holiday.
Din see a big diff in高铁and动车but the latter's slower... as in its fastest speed was up to 170km/hr but高铁could reach like 230km/hr~ Reached苏州in half an hr's time and we took“游2”bus to狮子林, and lucky we could use Shanghai's ez-link card!
The normal entrance ticket to狮子林was RMB30 per person, but cos I brought my student pass... I paid half price nia! *Karen was "jealous" along the way... complaining why they haven gt theirs haha.* And so... here goes my visit to狮子林... the "stoney palace"...

*Dun mind the photos nt being in order... cos while writing this post... my memories in kinda a mess too haha. I'm lazy and somewat tired to arrange nw.*

Then, we wanted to cab to this place (I can't recall name) to take boat ride and TH called for cab but none wanted to come to the place we were at to fetch us! We ended up taking local "trishaw"... 3 gals squeezed one car haha~ RMB5 nia. The ride was rather comfy though... so much better compared to the Bangkok one lol.
*Loved the laid-back feel of the place~*
The whole stretch of苏州street was filled with桂花香... omg so nice! The boat ride was refreshing, having the boat uncle tell some history of苏州for us... like hw ppl in olden days built a well if they gave birth to a baby boy etc. He sang苏州小调too... whoa nt bad eh! And he was proudly showing off different currencies he gt for tips... and TY gave him a Canadian one... uncle even knows the rate lor LOL!
We took a private car ride to虎丘nex since no trishaw wanted to go to such a far destination. Again... it was a long walk there... but I'd like to comment tat the酸辣粉丝Karen and I shared (RMB15) was yummy! So, in no particular order nw... for the photos:
Our legs were all tired by about evening time. So, somebody suggested gg shopping instead of留园(which I went b4 3yrs ago haha). We came to石路步行街after taking面包车.
Din buy anything except accompanying Karen ard to look for her polariod cam. In the evening, an old auntie came over to do palmistry and TY, Karen and TH looked at their palms haha. I was tempted to, but din since I couldn't really understand her accent. It was fun listening to theirs though.
And finally, we guys took the 9pm train back to Shanghai. TY, Karen and I chatted together along the way back... and dang Karen was being搭讪-ed by a young bald guy at the train platform lor! He said tat his friend was interested in knowing her and asked for her hp no. Karen rejected la, but lucky the guy din follow us much phew.
*Spent about RMB250 in all for this trip ba!*
