Uni grad trip to South Korea day 5: 25th May 2013

Left our guesthouse even earlier today... at 7am! We took the subway to Ewha Woman's Uni stn, which took about half an hr, and the uni was a 7mins walk away... straight out from exit 2/3.
We intended to go to Migo Bakery for breakfast, but it's closed down omo! YY, XY and YQ went Paris Baguette, while WT, Jenny, MT, SS and I went to a nearby eatery selling Korean food! *Many shops here open only after 10.30am.*
It's a shopping heaven for girls here at Ewha st haha. Anyway, the staff at the eatery don't speak Eng/mandarin, but the menu was pretty much understand-able with some chinese on it. 5 of us shared the kimchi fried rice, omelette fried rice and bimbap! Can't rmb the price but it's very affordable, since they most prob. cater their business to local students.
After breakfast, we found the other 3 and made our way to Ewha Woman's uni to take photos~ the sch compound is beautiful... looks like we're in Europe instead! *They've even got a museum within the sch!*
Even though it's filled with slopes (haha~), we reckon it's worth climbing a lil' for the exotic scenery.
Didn't went too deep into the sch grounds, cos the next thing we wanna do is shop at Ewha uni's area! Think we spent about 2hrs thr, and I bought some accessories and clothes... couldn't finish walking the whole area though. We walked to Sinchon train stn (not to be confused with Seoul's subway Sinchon stn), and figured out hw to walked to Hongdae from thr. But it's quite some distance away, so we went into a Hello Kitty Cafe located in Sinchon instead.*OMG I came back to SG and watched "Shinhwa Broadcast", before realising the guys were at this area, filming the show about a wk before we went aish!*
We went up the 2nd flr, and had to go down to the counter to order our food. *You hav to return ur trays after eating o!* WT had this strawberry yoghurt on bread, and I had the mixed fruits with waffles (4000won)... yummy for such warm weather!
Had a gd rest before proceeding on with our walk. I reckon I under-estimated how big Seoul is, thinking we could walk to Hongdae from Sinchon just by looking at maps from guidebooks, and as we asked ard, it seems it isn't possible... a guy directed us to sinchon subway stn, and we took one stop from thr, to reach Hongik uni stn. *Now it's a long 15-20mins walk to弘大自由市场, which was close to Hongdae, from exit 9 of the stn!* The flea market only opens on sat, from 1-6pm, and I almost gave up coming here cos it's so far... but I'm glad I insisted~ and the gals too!
Bought myself a military green colour oversized-top (or a short dress) at one of the boutique... 33000 won o. Anyway, all the artists here are licensed to sell their products here, mostly hand-made and unique accessories etc. *A great place for students to showcase their creativity and to earn some money of cos.* I saw a hand-made bracelet that was so lovely, yet expensive (17000won) and I asked for the girls' opinions if I shld buy. SS said it's too ex, and dragged me away to a playgrd nearby lol. And yeah this is the playgrd whr Jong Hyun's character, Colin, in "Gentleman's Dignity" played guitar and sang a song at!
The自由壁画街was juz beside...
Soon, it was evening. We gave up finding whr "Coffee Prince" cafe was at, and decided to go with dinner at Kang Ho Dong's "678 BBQ restaurant". Except for MT and YY whose gone eslewhr to look for their stuff, the rest of us walked down the market together, and then back to the subway's direction. *Had ice-cream otw again hoho! The ice-cream texture is thinner in South Korea, similar to shavings... I prefer this口感.* We set to gather 6pm at exit 9 of Hongik stn... and dang the crowd coming out from that exit at that timing was scary! *Now I dunno if I shld "complain" about SMRT haha...* After MT and YY reunited with us, we started finding our way to "678 BBQ restaurant".
Hongdae is also a fashionable shopping area, but there are slightly more varieties here than at Ewha. However, the pricing is also slightly higher. The crowd here on a sat night is incredible haha. And yes the 8 famished girls were finally at "678 BBQ restaurant"~ MT, YY, XY and I had all 4 servings of五花肉, while the others ordered beef as well.
Some of the staff could speak mandarin, and the menu had chinese words on it as well. The staff would help to cook the meat, and yup u eat it the "korean way": wrapped with lettuce and lotsa other food... tuck in! *I'm happy I'd learn to include onion and garlic in my meal too haha.* There was a lot of smoke, but not enough to choke ppl la lol. MT even ordered a bottle of beer for herself hehe. Honestly, the food portion wasn't huge, but kinda enough for one to be full. *23500won for dinner... considered more ex lo.*

Shopped hongdae area at night, and some of them bought some clothes. At one pt of time, my legs were so weary that Jenny and I sat down outside a Uniqlo store... couldn't care less with ppl's attention haha. *We see ppl breakdance, sing and gather at night on the streets... such fun.*
I told myself I must buy the packet of ice-cream (1000won) and banana milk (1200won) to try... got it at the convenience store near IBVille. The milk ice-cream was sweet~ and the banana milk was tasty!
