PotaTOH's colleagues visit + "The Devil's Plan Season 2"

1/6/25 Sun: After some research online, Potato cooked his own version of lala noodles with cabbage, onions, enoki shrooms and egg in shao xing wine and ikan bilis stock! He added a bit of light soy sauce in the base, and just a dash of wine in our soup just before serving~ very fragrant and tasty!

2/6/25 Mon: PL changed up her deep stretch yoga variations a bit and when it came to the quads' stretch, it got so deep at one point that my right knee got so painful I couldn't pull my feet closer to my butt anymore. Hence I stopped.

3/6/25 Tues: I cooked Mille-Feuille Nabe for dinner~ plus two sunny side-up since Potato requested for them haha.

4/6/25 Weds: Jo took over in Gyrotonics class this morning. Some moves were new, and some were still more difficult for me, but Jo was also patient and directed me and Sophia, a Pilates instructor, well.

Potato's colleague came over in the afternoon to play board games and I met HF, whom I haven’t seen in 21 years now omg haha~ Coincidentally, she’s colleagues with Potato and still plays volleyball now. Her daughter was here too and we chatted a bit.

5/6/25 Thurs: Many students in Jac's intermediate reformer class this morning and I tried a few new moves which were great. I chose the lightest yellow spring when we did splits on the reformer and it was quite the torture whenever the legs have to close back haha.

PotaTOHs finished watched "The Devil's Plan Season 2" on Netflix.

So much more social politics in Season 2! The dynamics were more tense probably because of how they split the groups this time between the living quarter and the prison. The games were still intriguing though.

Hyun-gyu, the winner received more criticism than last season's, mostly due to he way he presented himself on screen and how he made use of others in some ways to get to the top. So-hee probably beat him in terms of intelligence, but it was such a marginal loss for her in the end. Sad to see Se-dol and Justin out of the game early. I didn't quite like Ha-rin nor Hyun-joon for some of their reactions and they way they played games in the show. Kyu-hyun also allowed emotion to take over at times too. The "queen" of prison Eun-yoo impressed me with her survival every time haha~ Ji-young and 7high were also the ones who played "more cleanly" throughout.

Rating: 5/5

6/6/25 Fri: While I was packing my luggage and deciding when to wear contact lenses on the trip, I realised the ones for my left eye expired on May 31! I still have like about 70 of them left omg~ another 70 contacts for my right eye would expire in August too, so I don't see a point to keep all of them. I take this as a lesson learnt... spending $230 three years ago to get all six boxes of 30 each without planning or knowing how often I would wear them and assuming I can keep them forever haiz.

7/6/25 Sat: PotaTOHs headed to Decathlon at The Centrepoint to get my SH100 winter pants ($29.9) for our Europe trip in December. Also bought a whistle cum compass cum magnifying glass cum thermometer ($6.9) and a headlamp ($3.9) since I either misplaced or have thrown away the last one I bought for my Yogyakarta trip in 2018.

Then, we made our orders at Nakajima Suisan ($47+) at Takashimaya for lunch. Had to wait for 1+ hour, so we went up to Paris Miki first to clean my lenses and walked around at basement 2... tried some cherry alcohol and juice, which the saleslady said it's good for gout, joint ache and improving sleep. *Something that could be useful for my parents and in-laws... kept in mind.*

Potato ate the Shima Hokke Set ($19.5) which came with rice, miso soup, salad, tsukemono & kobachi, while I tried their Gindara Shioyaki Set ($22.9) that had the same sides. We also ordered a bowl of oden ($5.5) to share. Both fishes were grilled well and yummy, albeit I preferred my oily gindara over shima hokke, which was drier. The oden soup was quite shiok, although I'd like for the broth to be on the lighter side. Still, if there's any "restaurant/eatery" in Singapore I'd recommend to anyone, I think Nakajima Suisan is probably the one, given their quality and taste has been the same for the four or five times I'd been there over the years.

We were so full from lunch we had late dinner haha.

I had craving for army stew after watching “K-foodie meets J-foodie” yesterday, albeit they actually had charcoal-grilled duck lol. We bought hard pressed-tofu and cabbage to add to the maggie mee, enoki shrooms, onions, sausages and eggs we’d already have in the fridge. Potato used gochujang, one Tom Yam and one chicken stock cube as the stock base. It turned out more tom yam-ish than gochujang-flavoured, but we still enjoyed dinner!

8/6/25 Sun: FIL and MIL came over for lunch and we had duck rice set at the Batok West hawker centre. We settled a bit of Japan trip's stuff at ours.

Potato cooked his "upgraded" version of miso poached salmon tonight. He added ramen, brocolli and enoki shrooms into the dish. For the broth, he added fish stock too instead of just miso. The ramen was a bit salty since he cooked it with the stock, but otherwise the dish tasted yummy!

9/6/25 Mon: Played a game of Rummikub with Trinice in class this morning. *She had to teach me the game in mandarin haha~* Was fun and I can see how it would be beneficial for old people because it requires some thinking.

Drank a cup of Bandung ($1.7) for lunch because I'd been craving it for days as I was inhaling the rose geranium essential oil the past few days lol. This was not very sweet, in fact a bit bland, but still fragrant.

*Don’t know what happened to Potato but he started feeling itchy in the throat and coughing a little since Sunday. Hopefully he will recover after drinking some liang teh later.*
