Tues: It’s been quite a long-awaited trip to Yunnan with Alina because our last planned trip to Taiwan in 2020 fell through because of COVID-19. *Our first trip
together after 27 years of knowing each other!* We took up a private package
with喜妹 from丽江途游旅行社 (RMB 5840 per pax, rate was
about SGD 1 to RMB 5.339) which had its pros and cons on hindsight. *Other costs were round-trip air tickets for $765.5, FWD travel insurance with COVID-19 cover at $50 and YooWifi's unlimited daily wifi for $12.76 per pax.*
Took
a Grab to Alina’s at 9.30am and then to Changi T3 together for MU5082 to Kunming
that was delayed by 15 minutes or so and departed at about 12.40pm. It was a
short four-hour flight and I had minced chicken meat noodle on the China
Eastern Airline.
Touched
down at昆明长沙机场at
4.30pm and a random李师傅came to fetch
us at 5.30pm to喆啡酒店（南屏步行街店）.
We got there at 6.30pm and met with an agent to pay the remaining installments
for the package.
Tried their滴滴app and got a car (RMB 9) for our short 10-minute drive to南强步行街. Spent some time walking around the streets
filled with snacks and some interesting shops. We tried the蒜蓉烤虾滑first (RMB 32 for 10 pieces)
and it was yummy! The玫瑰花藕粉 (RMB
20) tasted like mua chee with rose flavour but it was not sweet.
Randomly
tried one玫瑰饼(RMB 3.5) because
XY told me it’s one of the signature pastries in Yunnan… it’s sweet and nice
but not warm enough. Alina ordered a lime drink (RMB 15) which was not bad and
we heard live singing on the streets too. We shared小龙虾锅贴(RMB 28 for eight pieces) but it was average.
The skin was too thick and the condiment was salty. Éclair was okay but I thought
the “worst” street food I had that night was the BBQ tofu for RMB 10 but I disliked the孜然粉! 好呛!Took滴滴back to喆啡酒店(RMB 8+) but we actually went
to the wrong branch alamak! Had to take another one (RMB11+) back to the
correct branch and it was 9.30pm by then. Went to bed two hours later but I couldn’t
sleep well first night because it was rather noisy, dusty and the light’s outside
were too bright for me.
