Backdate: Yunnan Apr 2024 Day 4

12/4/24 Fri: Woke up very early at 6.45am today and left at 8am to蓝靛扎染坊recommended by啊龙because we wanted to try dyeing clothes ourselves as it was popular among tourists in Yunnan. It was 10.30am when we arrived in丽江and saw some customers at the shop already. I picked a plain white tee (RMB 120) with植物扎染, which contained板蓝根as the dye, because the lady owner said it supposedly does not harm health and can last longer.

There were a few steps to follow where we had to make creases and tie the shirt up before lowering it into the big pot. I tried my best to “pinch” the tee with the strings provided as my “master” watched on on my left but I did not quite get it right, so he demonstrated further a few of the times.

After making the shape, one has to tighten it to make sure the dye gets onto the correct creases. He brought us over to the dye area and told me to dip my tee in with one hand but he did not say I had to hold still for two mins lol! It’s hard to keep still with my body bent and only one hand holding on to the tee. Worse, I forgot to tie up my hair so there were fly-aways irritating me now and then haha.

Had to wait around for a while for the dye to dry before we could take our “end products”. Here’s Alina’s dress and my t-shirt! The print came out quite nice! It’s light blue after the tee’s dried though.

Left at 12.45pm over for late lunch at 2.30pm before we visit束河古镇. It was a random shop and we ordered鱼香肉丝饭and番茄炒蛋盖浇饭 (RMB 31)! Food I enjoyed when I studied in China years ago~

Was at束河古镇from 3.40 to 5pm. *It was not as crowded as丽江古城wed experience later at night…* We first went to 青龙桥to take some photos and Alina was our own "professional photographer" haha.

Bought one嘉华玫瑰饼and one 抹茶饼 (RMB 10) to try as we listened to acoustic music performance outside one of the restaurant and bars. 嘉华玫瑰饼was quite sweet but still nice, but the matcha flavour was a bit weird though. Two of us were just enjoying the music this afternoon and the idea of a “slow life” was really relaxing.

Just before we leave the place, 纳西族啊龙quite excitedly showed us a random纳西族’s home from the outside and made us take a photo there lol.

At 6.30pm, we arrived at one of the carparks around 丽江古城and the boss from茗和舒院came to take our luggage. It was a cosy and peaceful stay not far from丽江古城 and I cannot say how much I liked the interior of the boutique resort and the room! This was the only stay that I “handpicked” from online and had to top up to stay here for two nights but it was very worth it. The sound proofing was best compared to most other stays given by the agency. *was invited to tea by the boss’ wife too at the main hall~*

Decided to walk around丽江古城at 8.30pm and have small bites for dinner. It was very bright and crowded during our one hour of walk! We tried the包浆豆腐(RMB 12) but it was not as nice as the one啊龙bought in大理I thought. *saw some东巴文on some walls…*

We ended up at纳西美食城where there were seats. Ordered the chicken wings and hotdog (RMB 25) but they were so-so and the炒面(RMB 25) was not to my liking either.
