Backdate: Yunnan Apr 2024 Day 8

16/4/24 Tues: It was such a peaceful morning. *Will definitely stay here if I were to come to丽江again! My next trip here would be to spend at least a whole day in the room and do nothing else~* So happy because I get to eat breakfast for 40 minutes before we check out of茗和舒院 at 9am~ I loved their breakfast! It was the best米线I had in Yunnan, so I kept telling Alina I must eat their breakfast before leaving and we managed to do so for two out of three nights we stayed!

啊龙went to top up the patrol before we began our long drive towards Shangri-La. We were first headed towards长江第一湾and啊龙dropped us off at a random run-down building at 10+am and told us to head upstairs to see长江第一湾from there.

It was tiring climbing up stairs till the fifth floor or so at high altitude but by the time we got up there, other than the fact the wind was chilly, we couldn’t even tell where长江第一湾was no matter how we look out lol. *水太少了看不到吧。害我们还爬那么高…*

There was serious traffic jam while we queued for虎跳峡 (Tiger Leaping Gorge). We waited for an hour before finally getting in at 11.45am. Alina and I spent extra RMB 70 each to get the “escalator passes” but realised later we still had to climb stairs up at some areas lol.

啊龙said it was the dry season hence there was less water but the water’s also clearer as compared to the brownish flow in summer. It was a sight to behold… 敬畏. *random but my hair’s somehow straighter and flatter in the dry Yunnan area~*

We walked into the祈福长廊. 风铃声叮当响;到处挂着福铃,风吹来的时候就把福气吹响了~很好听呢! The sun was glaring on a warm afternoon but it was neither hot nor cold really. Took some photos all around~

Alina and I shared popcorn chicken (RMB 25) but it was meh. We left at  2pm and had lunch at旺泉山庄half an hour later. We could see and hear the stream outside as we ate. Had小炒肉 (RMB 48) and麻婆豆腐 (RMB 28) but I disliked the latter because of the “numbing sensation” from the spices.

Got to哈巴雪山观景台at 4pm. We were at 3068m ASL already whoa. 哈巴雪山was far but Alina rode and took photos with an old yak (RMB 20) that had a famous influence as her owner.

We wanted to do a photoshoot at the outdoors in香格里拉so啊龙took us to独克宗古城as there were many photoshoot studios in that area that offered the service. We ran a little late and at 5+pm, decided on one藏族服饰店to do our photoshoot at纳帕海 cos it was slightly cheaper than another shop and had no crowd.

I tried on two or three outfits but I was not really into picking one since I liked the red ones. Alina, however, had a harder time deciding between the “norma-priced” ones or the “premium” ones. I paid RMB 288 for my set, which included the outdoor shoot and make-up, as well as nine PS-ed shots. Alina took the premium package, which costed RMB 400.

It was time for thick make-up haha. A lady in the shop had some opinions when the other lady tried to put eyelid sticker on my right eye since my left one was already a double eyelid, and she said it was better not to. *I thought I looked better without it too.* She also commented on the “butterfly stickers” on my face and the colour of the blush etc lol. The whole make-up was done in half an hour I think!

It was a 20-minute drive to纳帕海and it was already 7pm when we got there. The sun was setting down. Owners asked if we wanted to do horse-riding but we were not keen. The photographer drove us in because it was late and the owners gave permission for him to.

It was freaking cold! We simply followed whatever instructions he gave as we did our solo shots and group photos. They were similar poses. At one point, he got Alina and I to hold on to a random wild horse grazing on the grass from nearby lol. *Quite dangerous because these horses can suddenly charge at one another or at people.* He was "pulling away" from me as we were posing lor.

Alina helped me take some of the “Behind-The-Scenes” shots too hehe. *”Delete” my sports shoes from the photo and it’d look better haha!* My eyes were tearing from the strong winds so I was pretty sure the make-up was messed up at some point of time lol.

I picked my nine shots from his soft copies by the next day, sent it to the photographer via Wechat and he gave me the nine edited copies not long after.

Clad in Tibetan Chuba. Charmed!

啊龙napped in his car while waiting for us and drove us back to the shop at 8+pm to return our clothes. I could tell Alina was unhappy at some point because she felt the whole photoshoot was compromised and too rushed, but the sun was also setting too. She felt it was especially “not worthy” for her premium package, but啊龙had worked OT too and with the sun setting, we could not afford more time for more shots out at纳帕海. *Good thing we talked like adults first thing the next morning about this and we realised it was not really anyone’s fault but the schedule was just too packed with the long travelling. If anyone were to be blamed, which啊龙also agreed, it was喜妹, who did not a do a good job planning the itinerary.*

We checked in to藏胞之家at 9+pm and were both tired and hungry. Luckily, the receptionist helped us to order dinner using their local app. The华莱士shrimp burger (RMB 15) I had at 9.45pm was small but nice.

I could hear occasional sounds coming from the corridor, so the soundproofing in Yunnan’s hotels are generally bad. It was also very cold at night so we had to bring out another layer of blanket to keep warm at night. *Ouch my light blue adapter spoiled after dropping to the ground too.*
