Backdate: Melbourne trip June 2017 Day 6 & 7

10/6/17 Sat: 7.30am and we walked over to this cafe Fig and Walnut juz behind our Airbnb for a hearty breakfast! I love the interior and ambience thr~ so relaxing. 这里从外头看来不很起眼,但我很喜欢它的装潢,还有后花园!
I had the pancakes and seasonal fruits... AUD19~ sweet but a gd start to the day cos it perks me up haha. I booked the Puffing Billy Railway trip from Belgrave to Lakeside (return) for two pax (AUD54 each) at 10.30am before we went to Melbourne, so Potato has to drive thr and reach b4 that. *Foggy otw thr.*
The train ride is estimated to take us 1hr to and 1hr back. We made it jus in time and collected the tix, then we could proceed to the platform wheeee~ The min the车长greeted us goodbye and the thick smoke that signals the train was about to go off excites me lol. It feels like I'm not in 2017 for a moment! *Love the idea of hanging my legs out like ginnas while on the train haha!*
Went thru thick woods, and saw ppl living nearby etc... it was great. Stopped a while at Emerald stn for some ppl to alight.
Reached Lakeside stn. We bought some souvenirs thr, and took some photos with the beautiful scenery. Potato was curious with the mechanics of the train too, and so he went to the车头to take a look.
Bought iced coffee with us on the trip back.
Mike called me to ask about work while I was on the train neh, and coincidentally, we were gg to drive to Flemington racecourse to watch some winter races aft fetching Amelia at her place.
The carpark was huge, and the surrounding is pretty. What was a bit "ugly" was the fact that the security guards kept turning us away, but luckily aft asking ard, we managed to go in for free (tickets were AUD12 per pax) since there was only two races left. If not, it'd been a wasted trip for us!
Saw the statue of Mr Bart Cummings, the legendary trainer who trained 12 Melbourne Cup winners, but "he" was beside a trash bin... errr. I betted using the machine, but lost all my AUD25~ oh well it was for fun la. *I did take a copy of their race book for the day though, and again it's free cos it was towards the end of the day.*
There was a beautiful garden right outside, so we took some photos before leaving that evening.
Drove over to Flinders Lane to meet Liz and Michael for dinner. *Parking in town is so ex!* Amelia took the train hm from thr herself. Coda Melbourne was this chic basement place selling Viet-fusion plates and set menus. Nice ambience.
I tried the spicy sotong with ladyfingers and black noodles (AUD38). It was intensely yummy! Liz and Michael treated us to the dinner though... so nice of them! 4 of us walked Yarra River and Liz offered to help us take some photos.
Desserts to end off the night! Thanks to the hospitable couple!

11/6/17 Sun: Drove off to return our car at 9+am, and took their transport to the airport for our flight TZ 25 at noon back to SG. I bought some nougats and keychain at the airport. We had a quick bite of big breakfast before we board the plane.
It was definitely a memorable trip for PotaTOHs! *Thks for taking care of me on the trip dear! I'm happy we could care for and share with each other in the cold winter~*
