Backdate: Japan Tokyo Dec 2018 Day 14

24/12/18 Mon: Headed over to the old Tsukiji market area for breakfast woots! We saw people queuing for one of the famous ramen, and so we tried as well. It was rather salty for me though. Paid 100 to have hot tamago too~ it was sweet!
Everything around looked good for the hungry PotaTOHs haha~ We were deciding between Sushi Daiwa and Sushi Dai but as we did not see the latter there (assuming it has moved to the new Tsukiji market), we queued for Sushi Daiwa. We waited for 45 minutes, and at first, I thought we would not make it as one of those to go in first round when the door opened at 10.30 or 11am, but hey there are actually three storeys in there! We were being ushered to the basement, where we were seated with nine other guests on counter seats and had two sushi chefs served sashimi to us.
Potato and I went for their Omakase (12 sushi, including tea, tamago and miso soup) for only 3500! That’s cheap as compared to what you get in Singapore! The chefs were very professional and focused at work… oh well partly because most customers cannot speak Japanese I think? There were a few Singaporeans amongst us too.
They have already decided on the amount of wasabi and soya sauce dapped over the sashimi, and would tell us if for a certain sushi we'd like to dip our own extra sauce. *We had fresh and creamy uni too!* And we could request for our own sushi for the last one, and so we went for the Otoro!
Very filling and satisfied meal! The chef would also only serve after you finish your serving of sushi on your plate. *Not like we eat slow anyway~ I basically gobbled it down keke!*
Walked around the inner markets too after that… lots of fresh seafood around it seemed. We shopped Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse in the afternoon, as the slot we got for making our cup noodles (300) at Yokohoma Instant Ramen Museum was at 3.30pm. The building was flooded with people as there was some Christmas Market going on.*Spent 9136buying earrings and nail coatings etc.*
PotaTOHs had fun designing their own cups and deciding on the base and ingredients to be put inside. I went for curry base, and he chose the latest chilli tomato flavor. Pretty interesting experience.
Sunset was awesome with a cruise by the harbour and a big Christmas tree nearby! There was also an outdoor skating rink, but it was crowded.
Met Ian, Yuri, her daughter Miu (so shy and cute haha~), James and Daphne for dinner at a French restaurant Les Pieds Nus that Ian loves to go to with his colleagues as the Lobster Bisque was good.
We had B dinner set (3500) that came with entrée, bisque, mains and dessert. They separately ordered white and red wine as well. Potato had raw oysters as his entrée woots~
Yummy escargot, foie gras, lobster bisque, but I expected my Lobster main to be much bigger though lol. I also had the Mont Blanc and peach mint jelly cake for dessert too.
After dinner, Ian brought us to TRAM bar for more drinks. The three brothers all tried the Absinthe, and Potato didn’t liked the “licorice” taste in it. *One can get drunk very easily from Absinthe I learnt, no wonder one drinks it by “dripping”, little by little?* Yuri and I had “American in Paris” (1400)… not bad I thought.
We countdown to Christmas yay! Cabbed home later with Ian and Yuri (and having forgotten and left Francine’s “borrowed” umbrella in that pub... hopefully it will be of help to the next person!). Taxis are expensive in Tokyo… S$40+ for a 20 minutes’ ride.
