Backdate: Japan Tokyo Dec 2018 Day 12

22/12/18 Sat: We visited Akihabara  ("Geek day") today. Popped into a random 7-11 store and got ourselves Onigiri. I had the shrooms one and he had the omelette one. Potato got the idea of visiting Cat cafes planted in my head before the trip, and in our itinerary somemore, but it turned out that we were heading to an Owl Café instead!
He made the reservation beforehand, and we were the first to reach amongst the batch of about 10+ visitors. They have different breeds of owl in that small café, and hey they play jazz music inside! The first picture below features "Snowman" on the left!
We had to sanitise our hands upon going in, and keep our noise level to a minimal. The owls are in different sizes, and the smallest one was called "Shrimp"~ Anyway, we all had two chances to hold owls on our arms. I picked "Snowman", a Tawny owl and he chose "Okra", a Western Screech owl for our first owls. Snowman seemed to be sleepy at times, and "bo chup" at other times... maybe that's how I appear to be to people at times too lol~
One can use one finger to stroke their heads lightly. *Owls can rotate their heads 270 degrees wow~*
During that one-hour session, I saw "Mr President", that resembles the breed I saw in Yogyakarta. "Takoyaki" was the biggest in frame among all owls. Some owls were having their "break time", hence visitors could not take them. One of the active one, "Orange Sherbet" flew across the room! I picked "Sweet Potato" as my second owl~ she is a spotted little owl.
I can't recall the name of Potato's second owl, but he sure has the same "hairstyle" Potato has lol~ Oh and the staff took photos for visitors and sent it to us later as well! It was a nice and pleasant visit to the Owl café!
Had lunch nearby at a Japanese restaurant that claimed that their fishes are direct from Tsukiji market. It was not the best we had, but not bad either.
Then, we began our walk in Akihabara, supposedly the heaven for manga and anime lovers. Helped my brother to buy 20 Yugi-Oh anniversary packs, in which he only wanted the cards. *The chips turned out quite good though lol.*
Maybe because I'm not a fan of anime and manga, so there's not much for me to see around either. We ended the walk in the afternoon, and headed back to Ian's neighbourhood. Wandered around and we saw a mini music festival nearby.
Bought some hand-made earrings too. Evening time, Ian recommended us some really good ebi soba ramen in Omori.
The menu was available only in Japanese, so I wouldn't be able to order without their help. It was so very delicious~ definitely worth going again if we ever go back!
