Backdate: Mauritius Jun 2023 Day 7

12/6/23 Mon: We had yummy scrambled egg toast for breakfast at 7am thanks to Potato! Drove over to meet at "Falconboats" Trou D'eau Douce but we went to the wrong meeting point initially and there was this guy who "pretended" like he wanted to help us by checking with somebody over the phone about the location, but I had a hunch feeling he was trying to find out how much our package cost etc because they seemed to run a business for tourists going to Ile aux Cerfs (Deer Island) too.

Good thing our guide called me back soon and he led us to park at the harbour near where we would be taking the "Sirena Cruise" aka speedboat by Blue Water Adventure over to Ile aux Cerfs. Set off for our six-hour tour (S$233.80 for four pax) of the island and BBQ lunch at 9.30am! There were six of us on board, excluding the skipper. Quite shiok on a speedboat haha and it took us 10 minutes to arrive...

There were many "guides" touting tourists on the island, so the guide from our agency told us to only buy tickets for water activities from them. They do have discounts and after discussion, Potato and I decided to parasail (rs2500 for a five-minute ride and another rs500 for photos and video)!
We followed the guides over to a side of the island where we had to take a two-minute ride on a small speedboat over to the take-off platform in the middle of the sea. WL and WS followed us and helped to take some photos of us while we were hoisted into the air lol.
There were two other ladies who were waiting to do the tandem parasailing activity as PotaTOHs went first. Two guides helped us wear the harness and I was holding on to the GoPro while being strapped at the front. I had almost no time to think but the minute the speedboat drove away, I screamed my lungs out because the first few seconds going up was thrilling for me!
It went from excitement to peace very quick though lol! Much as the noisy me kept exclaiming from high up, I was also busy admiring the beautiful blue sea around the island and we were actually travelling very slowly round and round as the speedboat sped...
I was just snapping away as a first-time GoPro user... just hoping to get nice shots and video of PotaTOHs' first parasailing experience together! It was a quick three to four minute up there before our descend back at the platform. *Now even looking back at the photos and video, I "relived" the experience and enjoyed it a lot! Glad we decided to do that in Mauritius.*
After returning to the island, we shopped for a bit at the souvenir shop as there was time before we were taken on the speedboat to the Grand River South East waterfall at 12.30pm. *So tempted to buy things but I still curbed my desire haha.*

WS was resting while WL played with waters as we waited. Potato sat down under a shade and we decided on doing another water activity, "sofa ride"! We had to wait for a family of four that were before us, and when it was our turn, they advised me to remove my spectacles, so I handed my handphone and spectacles to the staff on the speedboat.
It was about a good five to seven minutes of "swinging" left and right on the inflated round bed as the speedboat pulling us sped! We had to cling on to the holder for dear life because if you lift both hands off... you're gone lol!

I laughed very hard on the ride seeing how Potato was very "stiff" there and I laughed even harder when I saw the photos and videos lol! We were slightly later than 12.30pm when we got back and hopped onto the speedboat immediately for the waterfall. Stunning views along the way as usual... including the humans too of course LOL!

The GRSE waterfall was not "wow wow" but we still took lots of photos there.

The skipper drove us over to an island nearby Mangenie Islet where he got off and up came another friendly skipper. He took us to Mangenie Islet and we could smell the BBQ even when we hadn't landed.
There was a tent for us and once we set down, the staff came to greet us and told us about our BBQ menu. He also came with a sea urchin, asking if we'd like to try at one for rs200. We asked for two and they gave us one more for free in the end. It's my first time eating fresh sea urchin and it was salty but not bad... preferred it without lemon juice though.
Our BBQ lunch was served soon! The potatoes were very nice, as well as the pork sausage and the chicken thigh, but the fish was meh. They served us banana flambe for dessert. One of the staff actually serenaded us with his singing and guitar playing... he could even sing one Chinese oldies! *Tipped them for their good service!*
We finished lunch at about 2.30pm and the guide drove us to the middle of the lagoon and we spend 20 minutes there just enjoying the blue waters of the lagoon. The two Russian ladies on board went swimming in the Indian Ocean. *So troubled by what was happening to STC at that point of time but I guessed the ocean took my worries away in that moment...*
He then drove us to the deeper part of the ocean to feel the stronger waves outside and that reminded me of my dolphin-seeking and fishing trip at Zanzibar eight years ago.
Then, we were driven back to the main land and looking back, I really enjoyed our day out at Ile aux Cerfs. We then drove to Belle Mare beach at 4pm but only spend 20 minutes there because there was nothing much around...
Suggested we visit Tribeca Mall for dinner and we got there at 5.30pm. We walked around their huge supermarket that had sushi and bubble tea before deciding to have dinner at their "food court", which featured food from different parts of the world.
In the end, WL and I ended up at the Chicken rice stall where I ordered the Hainanese chicken rice for rs275 and WL had their char siew boiled noodles. The ginger was overpowering and they used basmati rice haha...
He also bought taro bubble milk tea which tasted a lot like Milo to us lol. After an hour or so, we headed back to our Airbnb and was back by 7.30pm.
