Dinner w LL & Jess @ Man Zuk & Flipper's + dinner w Linh @ Micasa + shopping & Cha Ca Cafe w Linh
25/6/26 Thurs: Went for my third scalp treatment and got the stylist to trim my hair a bit during that 1.5 hours session. Potato went to cut his hair too before we ate duck rice for lunch together at Batok Central.
Went back to my parents’ for dinner and good to hear dad’s knee pain has improved and he doesn’t feel much pain anymore.
26/6/26 Fri: My first intermediate Pilates class with YL at One Pilates this noon. Very challenging and tiring, partly because it's been a while since my last class, and secondly, instructor YL seems rigid with her moves. She kept on stacking reps of 10 to the different series when obviously students in class cannot keep up anymore and the forms have gone wrong, including mine. I had to lighten the load myself and reduce the number of reps according to my own physical fitness level and body condition. Overall, I did not enjoy the class and though she seems to know her stuff, I thought she should have adjusted the level according to the students' ability. Can't wait to finish my 10-class package here and return to classes at Pilates Works soon.
Potato cooked salmon ochazuke for dinner~ it was so delicious! He used Ayataka, mirin, light soy sauce and chicken stock for the chazuke and it tasted mostly of green tea, but once it's poured into the seared salmon, shimeiji and spinach, damn the taste was elevated a whole new level, especially with the taste of the seaweed flakes too!
27/6/26 Sat: Potato bought a new Apple SE3 watch ($349) for me after my last one (which I wore since July 2022) had its screen smashed after our sand dune trip in Xinjiang. I chose the starlight colour as I've always preferred lighter colours for accessories and it looks nice! Thanks a lot dear! <3
Ian and Fran came over to PotaTOHs' and we had zi char ($60+) downstairs for dinner. Honestly did not like any of them. The claypot beancurd tasted like they used chicken stock MSG from maggie mee, the venison meat and assam fish was too sweet. The trio egg spinach was only so-so. Fran also made an 18-inch Tiramisu for us~ a bit sweet for me but still nice.28/6/26 Sun: Potato cooked minced pork penne with shimeiji shrooms and capsicums in tomato sauce for dinner tonight~ so thankful especially when it's a work day for me.
29/6/26 Mon: Intermediate Pilates reformer with Ailee this morning was easier because she gave breaks in between moves. I still prefer the classes at Pilates Works but shall make do with the package here for now.
Potato cooked tom yam noodles with prawn dumplings, bok choy, eggs, carrots, onions, shimeiji shrooms and enoki shrooms for dinner but the egg flavour overpowered the tom yam taste in the end lol~ greedy mao!
30/6/26 Tues: Aerial yoga with Anna this morning reminded me of the days when I first learned it! She went back to basics and the slow breathing sitting in the hammock at the start felt quite good.
Haven't cooked in a while~ did simple eggs, bok choy with cherry tomatoes and teriyaki chicken thigh meat with enoki and onions. It's the first time I had to deal with bones in the chicken thigh meat though... thought I did not do a clean job of separating them but oh well haha~1/7/26 Weds: Good sweat-out in Esther’s Barreless Sculpt class this morning!
Potato felt lazy, but he still cooked cold soba with pork dumplings and miso soup for us for dinner! <3
2/7/26 Thurs: Always nice to be home for my mum’s dinner~ *Need to let go of unnecessary things and get my priorities back!*
3/7/26 Fri: *Croatia lost 1-2 to Portugal in the round of 32… a close competition but we’ll miss Modric!* Cooked wafu style pork pasta but I did not use chicken stock at all tonight but mushroom stock instead. i prefer the taste with chicken stock hehe.
4/7/26 Sat: An exciting match between Argentina and Cabo Verde this morning~ whoa the latter was a real threat to Argentina. Their goalkeeper was really good and the players seem to have lots of energy. It was not to be for them in the end (3-2) but Cabo Verde team impressed in the World Cup this time.
Met Jess and LL for dinner at Westgate's Man Zuk. Tried the porridge there and it was not bad, albeit not very filling because it’s porridge haha. Then, we went to Flippers where LL treated us to souffle pancakes~ Had a good catch-up talking about LL’s bro, Jess’s new job and my trip back from Xinjiang and upcoming one to Taiwan.
5/7/26 Sun: Potato cooked potato slices, Taiwanese sausage, Japanese cucumber and maiitake shrooms for dinner~ it's almost a re-make of his own dinner yesterday but I'm happy as long as there's homecooked food!
6/7/26 Mon: Potato cooked meatless kimchi jiggae for dinner~ the tang hoon was very good! The additional cabbage on top of the kimchi napa cabbage was a bit too much for me though.
7/7/26 Tues: Attended beginner pilates class with Albee this morning. Not sure why but I felt my lower back while doing the bridge and pushing my legs away from the bar.
Packed day with work and tuition, and after a quick shower, I started to cook and tried out two new recipes with the prawns and tofu. The prawns turned out a bit tough and somehow salty after air frying, but the mayo with wasabi and honey sauce mixed with walnuts and almonds was not bad. As for the simple tofu with egg dish, I cleaned forgot to prepare the egg mixture and accidentally just cracked one in first alamak~ Dinner wa slightly later than usual at 7pm but Potato still happily ate them hehe~
9/7/26 Thurs: Went for scaling and polishing ($87.2) this morning and first time I saw Dr Koen Sim though he has been there for a year already lol. Everyone went well and he even helped me to floss one time in the end. He mentioned the gap at my upper right molar area near the implant is bigger than usual and he could re-do the filling if I want, but it’s more of the issue the gum has sunken or something hence the case, but I said I will stick to try to floss it more thoroughly.
Massage with Han this afternoon was so-so. She used the牛筋器具to help me松筋which got a bit itchy at some areas. She also used艾灸for better blood circulation, which I felt was quite warm. The main areas of treatment were the neck, shoulders and upper back, and she just pressed my lower back a bit but weirdly, both sides felt achy.
Had dinner at my parents’ and the石斑鱼in tomato sauce was very yummy!
10/7/26 Fri: Thankful for the good weather when I went out to collect the meals for delivery to the beneficiaries this morning and it only began to drizzle after I’m done with everything. It feels like a workout every time running around but I feel happy knowing they get their lunches!
Met Linh for dinner at Micasa Kitchen and Bar. We shared the seafood paella ($43++) and it was flavourful, just a tad salty for me. Spent the time listening to her and we continued talking at the cafe nearby later. Things will get better!
11/7/26 Sat: Ian and PotaTOHs drove over to Mingfa for their special seafood and squid ink ba chor mee ($55.2). Noodles were meh but funny we got our mouths full of squid ink lol~ the seafood and fried squid were okay. We also took away Nine Fresh desserts for the night woohoo~
12/7/26 Sun: Ian came over to watch Argentina versus Switzerland in the World Cup quarter-finals together and he won five pounds nett haha~ Argentina went through with a 3-1 score after an extra 30 minutes. We had duck rice for lunch and I tried the plum tea ($5.80) from Chicha Sansen and it was meh.
Potato cooked yakitori and miso soup for dinner for three of us~ the salt in the bottle was somewhat stuck, so the chicken were not salted that well, but it's still an A for effort from my Potato~
13/7/26 Mon: Barreless-Barre Sculpt class with Esther this morning was another blast, which was both a challenging and great workout for me as always.
14/7/26 Tues: Been a long time since I last went for大光明禅修. We were in the smaller hall this morning and I was a bit nervous given it's been a while and I'd been feeling a bit floaty recently... but good thing it went quite well after all. Always feel quite good after meditating there.
Tried a new steam egg recipe I saved on Instagram and added mushrooms to it. I could have salted it more but the taste was okay, but I'm happier about the texture because it came out quite nice. The pork belly slices, cabbage and enoki shrooms steamed dish was good too.15/7/26 Weds: Slept for a few hours and got up to watch France vs Spain’s world cup semi-final match at 3am. Spain really owned the match and France, my first time watching them this World Cup, performed rather poorly. In the end, Spain won France 1-0 and I went back to sleep till 9am or so.
Potato made his style of手抓饭~ pilaf with seared chicken and crabsticks with bok choy and mushroom-soaked chicken stock rice… I love the meats while he enjoyed the carrots a lot!
16/7/26 Thurs: It was quite physical between Argentina and England in the semi-finals yesterday and I think deep down I was rooting for Argentina. They came from behind to break England's defence and score two goals one after another within minutes again!
Mum cooked fish and radish soup, and also brought back many dishes from her school since there was left overs, like cereal prawns, chilli crab tofu, fish and rendang chicken. Her own cooked dishes are still the best though!
17/7/26 Fri: Met Linh for some window shopping at Lovet and The Form... ended up she bought a toga top instead haha~ I redeemed Molly premium Jasmine milk tea for free which would otherwise have costed $5.20... it's nice but not worth the hype imo. Then, we had lunch at Cha Ca Cafe~ vietnamese food! We shared the spring rolls ($5.5) which were nice, and I had the crab meat vermicelli ($11), which was quite nice. Linh let me try her "da me", which was tamarind drink with peanuts and it's quite good!
Potato cooked kimchi ramyeon for dinner tonight! A bit salty towards the end but it's still nice~
