Backdate: Xinjiang Jun 2026 Day 4

15/6/26 Mon: Was up at 8.30am and after breakfast at 9.15am, we left at 10am.阿力木took some time to look for the right petrol station for diesel for his car, so we wasted some time there. At 11.15am, we finally drove onto阿禾木路, which he said was more beautiful than独库公路that we were going onto later.

He shared with us how he was a shepherd from the age of eight till his teenage years and roamed the area in阿禾木. The scenery reminds me of the alpine forest in Krygyzstan, and we stopped by a stream to take some photos.

阿力木got news of his son's injury in school from the teacher and we stopped somewhere for him to settle some home stuff. PY was very nice and suggested some nice shots in the middle of nowhere haha~
北疆的蓝天白云真的很漂亮。百香果奶啤不是酒,就甜甜的~ 阿力木then drove us to a random stream to "taste" mountain water~ I had a mouthful... very fresh! He splashed water onto PY and washed his own face to wake himself up because he stayed up to watch soccer the night before alamak~
Here's one lake and the backdrop was quite pretty~
Came to a rest stop for toilet breaks and they bought cappuccino.
Our 41-year-old driver was so tired he had to take a nap, so five of us ended up eating very late lunch at 4pm. We had potato slices and油麦菜 that my FIL paid for while Fran and PY shared instant noodles too. Pretty field of flowers nearby but the number of flies around them was no joke too~
At 4.30pm, 阿力木continued driving but he was reckless, and one part of the road we
almost hit an oncoming car. Potato was pretty unhappy about his lack of professionalism and safety concerns.
After a long drive, we arrived at禾木station at 6.15pm. Had to transfer onto their shuttle buses to go to禾木村, where we were staying for the night. *The way Chinese rush onto the tour bus sia~*

Checked into云岸山居at 7+pm. It was a cosy small room but lacked amenities liked they only provide one-time use towels, which was barely enough for my hair and body lol. Saw some Singaporean tourists at the same lodging before we walked out to the main area to find dinner. Wanted to eat KFC but there were no seats, so we had some Xinjiang cuisine instead.

Ate dinner at 7.45pm for one hour. PotaTOHs shared the鸡肉拌面which was so-so. Their ladys' fingers was nice, the mapo tofu was not bad too. 茶树菇有点硬, and Fran ordered番茄鸡蛋面. All-up, it costed RMB 354.

阿力木suggested we go for a short hike nearby. I saw many eagles as we were in the main area before realising many locals trying to feed them by tossing meat into the air.

We hiked up from 9-10pm, took some photos and came down. Weather was cooling and it was quite big on the hill and one could see the whole Hemu village from up there... must be beautiful at night. Nice shots from PY again~

I did another hike in my sandals again after Hokkaido haha~ 阿力木treated us to ice-cream at KFC after that.

PY and Fran wanted to ride the electric scooters, but they were not able to register an account, so阿力木let PY use his instead.
It was nearing night fall at 10+pm. Besides PY, the rest of us walked over to a small food street, which also featured a 篝火会with many people in the crowd. We stayed there from 11 to 11.30pm. *They encouraged me to sit on the railings but because of my PPPD, I don't think I was too steady, hence I tried to see what I can from behind the crowd.* Ambience was quite high!

Headed back to shower, and we saw some stars outside at 1+am (despite the area still quite brightly lited) while PY, Fran and FIL was having some beer. It was cold outside, so I put on my thermal pants. Only went to sleep at 1.30am~
