21/6/26 Sun: Got up at 7.15am. I didn't sleep well because of the rain throughout the night as it was quite noisy. Poor Fran had sore throat and woke up earlier.
The sky brightened up at 8am or so. We had quick and simple breakfast and阿力木told us there was incoming flood, so we should leave asap. It sounded a bit scary, so we left at 8.30am. The good news was独库公路opened up after announcing the day before it’d be closed due to collapse from the rain.阿力木bought honey by the roadside for RMB50... I should have bought it too haiz. Anyway, the view on独库公路was quite pretty. You basically see "all seasons", and we were quite close to the snowy mountains at some parts too. At 11+am, we took a break for 20mins and man it was very cold at 5 degrees Celcius and we were pretty much underdressed for that.I remember taking a pee and saw smoke coming up from the hole lol~ Fran bought sweet potato and shared it with us... so shiok holding and eating that in cold weather! We stopped by a coffee truck and Potato bought mocha while PY bought the honey yuzu tea (RMB15) and it was very nice. It was funny how Fran was blur for a moment and passed them Taiwanese currency but the guy didn't seem to mind but was curious instead. He asked to take a photo and also of Sing dollar haha.
We began driving downhill afterwards and I got sleepy. The ambience temperature went up to 35 degrees Celcius too! We returned to the restaurant where we ate羊腿手抓饭for lunch.
From 2 to 2.45pm, four of us had chicken drumstick 抓饭 for lunch, only PY stuck with the lamb drumstick. Honestly, the lamb drumstick was more tender. Not forgetting our Kvass drink too~ RMB 170 in all.
*I had heat rash on my arms because of the heat sia~* It was another long drive. 阿力木brought us to this凉皮shop nearby his place at 6pm and treated us to新疆凉皮that he enjoys a lot he said. We had a quick 15 minutes' stop and I liked it... could have it a bit spicier even haha.Checked in to地王酒店at 7+pm. This was still one of the best hotels we stayed there haha. PY and Fran wanted to stay in, so FIL, Potato and I cabbed over (RMB 15.9) to和田二街night market at 8pm for some BBQ dinner and last-minute shopping.
FIL helped me pay RMB 50 for two labubus I bought for my students... thank you! There were lots of souvenirs and food around. It's father's day, but FIL was not too hungry, so we ended up at a random BBQ stall and ordered some food and Kvass (RMB 44). Their BBQ food were mostly good!
I continued to buy more snacks (RMB 82.1) from Xinjiang and they go by weight most of the time. We cabbed back (RMB 9.7) near 10pm. Potato really wanted to try the KFC so he went to buy the two-piece chicken meal (RMB 25.5) but found it meh.
