Backdate: Xinjiang Jun 2026 Day 5
16/6 Tues: The morning sun woke me up at 7+am and I realised it was raining outside. Slept again before we got up at 9am. *right knee was aching a bit... weird* Walked to a nearby eatery the lady boss directed us to for breakfast at 9.30am.
I decided to try臊子面 (RMB 25) that contained beef, some veggies and pepper corn... huge bowl but not to my liking. Potato tried their烤包子but he thought it was too tough. At 10.30am, we took the bus back to Hemu station and阿力木drove off at 11.30am towards喀纳斯 . Stopped briefly and took some photos... felt like I can never get enough of the skies in Xinjiang!Went into a local restaurant near Kanas bus station at 1.30pm for lunch. We thought some of the brocolli was salty, and the酸辣汤PY ordered tasted different from what we usually have in Singapore. The cumin taste in it was way too strong for me. It costed us RMB 199 in total.Walked around for a short while and Fran bought honeydew and watermelon (only RMB 20 I think?). We also queued for a while for some drinks from Mixue. At 3pm, we took the transfer bus for an hour to our place of stay in the old Kanas village, 伯乐居.阿力木initially wanted to sleep with Potato and FIL, but Potato was unhappy with their arrangement, so we told the agency and阿力木went to sleep in his driver's lodging instead. That should be the way because we were not told driver would be sleeping with us and the night before was already an exception. *FIL said he snored super loud too omg!*
After putting down our luggage, we left and went to the游船码头along喀纳斯湖because we did not have much time to explore given the transportation time and big site there. At first, we even thought of walking to the古冰川羊背石and吐鲁克岩画area, thinking the 4.5km board walk would not be that long but man I underestimated it...
We forest bathed from 5.15 to 7.30pm or so, it rained here and there, and we did not even finish the whole route! Potato offered to see how long more there was because of time constraint due to shuttle bus timings, and he ran till almost the end before seeing long flight of stairs up further omg. He still walked up for some distance and took a video for us which was beautiful... the area definitely looked like Switzerland for a bit! After putting down our luggage, we left and went to the游船码头along喀纳斯湖because we did not have much time to explore given the transportation time and big site there. PY and I were talking on the way back together and saw a black squirrel. All of us took the bus to喀纳斯客服中心and decided on dinner in one of their food court at 8pm.
My烤鸡拌饭(RMB 36, which I paid in cash because their Wechat don't take Youtrip) was salty and definitely no way a proper bibimbap lol. Fran wanted to try椒麻鸡so she ordered, but it was too much for me. I tried a random Xinjiang yoghurt and enjoyed it. Fran and PY continued to shop but I was tired, so was FIL from walking a lot today, so at 9.30pm, three of us took one of the last shuttle buses back to伯乐居. *It was only three stops away hence the two walked back later.*Saw some stars later that night and the girls had a nice chat before turning in. :)
