Desserts w Jess @ Arc-en-ciel Patisserie & PH over at PotaTOHs’ + “Adolescence” + lunch with Scott + visiting Kuro & Coco

29/3/25 Sat: Attended body rolling class then foot fitness and yoga class with YL this morning and I must say I really enjoy her classes. She goes into the small details and targets her classes according to students’ issues. We worked the hips and hamstrings with the ball and after that, we’d lie down on the floor and I could tell the side we worked on could obviously lean closer to the ground than the other. Also, I always thought my right leg was slightly longer than my left because when I relax both legs out, my right would drop lower than the left but it was until today I found out it could have been my left hip muscles or deep tissue muscles that has been weaker or “shortened” all these years hence why my left leg cannot rotate further out when it’s relaxed! So for my left side, because it was tighter or the muscle has been “shortened”, I could feel it did not stick so close to the ground even after the rolling. There’s an obvious difference to both sides of my hip. YL also observed our standing posture individually and told us what she thought. For me, she said my right hip looked like it was slightly tilted in front. It took me a while to feel the balance in both sides that she said looked more okay. The subtle things we have to take note mentally when “stacking the body” is quite a bit but very intriguing too.

While in the foot massage class, other than working with the “wakers”, we did a simple warrior pose and YL only had to remind us to tilt the bended knee more outward to align with the second toe and I could feel my left leg was obviously tighter. *How i wish I could do her classes every Sat!*

Was very hungry before I met Jess for desserts at Arc-en-ciel Patisserie, so I randomly went to a coffee shop and quickly downed ate chicken pho ($5) for lunch lol.

We used to like cakes from KKI, so this time we shared their creation J (black sesame, matcha and yuzu), this cafe’s cake yuzuki (orange and some light cheese) and Adam’s Apple ice-cream parfait that had cedar wood gelato, blueberry sauce, some jelly etc ($66). Jess liked J while I preferred yuzuki. We thought Adam’s Apple was so-so.

PH also came over to ours and four of us ate dinner at Batok West hawker centre. I thought the wanton mee ($4.5) was nice! Played a bit of Mysterium and “Keep talking and nobody explodes” VR game.

30/3/25 Sun: Potato bought the ingredients from Cold Storage and we had yong tau foo for dinner tonight~ yums!

31/3/25 Mon: Working today and so Potato cooked meatless dinner for us. He cooked butter rice with soy sauce, sesame oil and some Italian herbs too.

1/4/25 Tues: Attended stretch yoga with Ice this morning and she has her usual style when teaching, different from Eka’s.

Cooked pork belly, dumplings, bok choy and eggs with noodles in tom yam soup for lunch~ so shiok!

2/4/25 Weds: Functional yoga with Yvonne and we worked a lot on the breathing and core. The “crawling on all fours” is tough, and trying to remember to breathe properly on top of that is worse lol.

Cooked caixin with carrot strips, cold tofu with walnuts and pistachios and pan-fried pork and cabbage dumplings! The caixin tasted a bit bitter and my pan-friend dumplings needed improvement, as usual, haha.

3/4/25 Thurs: Barreless-Barre with Agnes was tiring~ not heart-thumping but she finds ways to make different body parts ache haha. Had to plank and twist while we passed the yoga blocks today too.

Went to Paris Miki at Takashimaya to collect my new spectacles. I probably remembered wrongly last time when I mentioned about the degrees. So, my left eye's myopia remained as 725 degrees while astigmatism is 75 degrees. It's the right eye that has worsened. In terms of myopia, it has increased 25 degrees to 575 degrees while the astigmatism has increased by 50 degrees to 150 degrees. As usual, the right eye has to take a few days to adjust to the new degrees so I felt slightly weird after putting on the new glasses, but not as bad as when I bought my last one a year ago or so... which was when my left eye's myopia increased by quite a bit.
And it’s been many years since I bought a round-framed one! I always thought my face shape would be enlarged by round glasses and hence always avoided it, but this looked okay now haha.

4/4/25 Fri: Tried红油抄手面 ($5.5) at Batok West hawker and although I liked the pork wantons, and the sour-ness of the sauce was okay, I think it’s overpriced for nothing but four wantons and noodles.

Potato used the cooker to do claypot chicken rice tonight! The mushrooms he soaked overnight tasted yummy~ we thought the overall taste and texture was not bad, but it would get jelak if the portion is any bigger. Also, he wanted it less mushy. The kani with eggs and mayo was a nice addition that helped cut through the claypot taste a bit.
5/4/25 Sat: Ate ba chor mee ($4.5) at Batok West hawker centre for lunch and it was only okay.
Wrote the verses for my inspirational rock song after advanced lyrics class this afternoon. Potato cooked seafood marinara with kani, prawns, green capsicums and spaghetti~ yummy!

Finished watching “Adolescence” with Potato.
Thought-provoking short drama. Owen Cooper was outstanding as the 13-year-old murderer Jamie Miller. I liked that the four episodes were filmed in one continuous take each (in a way forcing audience not to take their eyes off the show lol), and it's a very "intimate" look at one family's story.

Also, the rise of the incel culture and "manosphere" is a toxic culture among teens nowadays. Something worth paying attention to.

Rating: 4.5/5

6/4/25 Sun: Disappointed to find that the seats of the tailored sofa cushions I bought from Taobao did not fit our sofa nicely. Have to trim off the sponge ourselves before the seller ships the new cushion cover to us.
Potato cooked tomato fish and scallop stew for dinner tonight and it went very well with rice. There were also shimeiji shrooms, onions, carrots, potatoes and celeries in it, but the latter three were not as soft as he thought they'd be.

7/4/25 Mon: Used a few props on deep stretch class with PL this morning. I enjoy her lessons because those stretches felt good most of the time. We did extended puppy pose and I know I’m not good with that and my left arm always feels more painful in that pose. When it comes to stretching our arms, my right shoulder and arm are tighter. The “floating” pigeon pose and putting our heads under our leg is tough. *I got a weird numbness throughout my whole right leg for a bit and when I got up, for a moment, I realised what it’s like to not be able to feel the leg omg. Good thing it got better over lunch and okay when I was on the bus home, albeit I can feel the ache in my ankle.* But, I thought I did quite well when it came to trying to tuck my legs behind my head while we were lying down though… slightly better on my left.

8/4/25 Tues: Neck, back and shoulder opening class this morning was okay. Potato cooked browned sugar miso udon with pork belly, shimeiji shrooms and Japanese cucumbers for dinner~
9/4/25 Weds: Met Scott for lunch at Yew Tee Kopitiam partly because I missed my korean food! Also wanted to know how the chief steward was doing haha. He treated me to lunch and updated me on his life and "working" life in STC lol. Good to hear he'll be taking a break and travelling to Croatia and US soon~ envious!

PotaTOHs enjoyed wafu spaghetti with pork belly, shimeiji shrooms, onion, chilli and cabbage for dinner! Cabbage was a bit too much this time haha~

10/4/25 Thurs: Cooked lunch for myself with what’s left in the fridge. Celery with shimeiji shrooms was not bad albeit a bit too much oyster sauce, and the peppered and salted pork belly did not go very well with scrambled egg haha. Still, it was a quick 30-minute prep and I got to enjoy my meal!

11/4/25 Fri: Linh and I met up for trial beginner’s Pilates reformer class at The Pilates Work this morning. Teacher Phoebe let us do half the class with roller and mat before moving on to the reformer during the second half of the class. I thought it was rather easy for me, but I would like to try their intermediate class so I will buy their 10-session package at $350 and start next week. Treated Linh to yong tau foo at the coffee shop across and I thought it was not bad too.
The custom-made sofa cushion I ordered from Taobao ended up a bit too big so we cut the cushion upon the seller’s advice. Potato cut and reduced each of the seat cushion’s length by 4cm and breadth by 1cm and now they fit nicely into our Ikea sofa, albeit the cover is slightly big.

12/4/25 Sat: After meh duck rice at Batok West hawker, PotaTOHs went to PY’s to help feed Coco and Kuro and clear their tray litters. Glad they recognised us quite fast!
