Backdate: Malaysia Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur Dec 2024 Day 3 & 4
The Nam Heong egg tarts were quite nice!
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 2pm and I wanted to have Lai Foong la la noodle for late lunch. It was quite packed but we got seats right away. Their lala bee hoon (RM32) was damn shiok! *count ourselves lucky we can get good and cheaper food in Malaysia~*
After an hour, we walked past Chinatown area before Ian drove us over to Park Royal Collection for our one-night stay at 3.45pm (S$370 for four pax). We had a family suite on the 16th floor. And we spent the afternoon watching “Culinary Class Wars” haha.Left at 5.45pm for our Christmas dinner at Cielo. It was about a 20 minutes' walk over. *ooh the crowd was quite scary at the road junctions...* There was also rain halfway through our walk.It was a nice place on the 24th floor where we could see the skyline and Twin Towers. We had their five-course Christmas dinner (RM288+ per pax) which lasted from 6 to 8.45pm which was worth it I thought. We had some starters which were good, and I ordered their Cava crush: artic blue gin, frangelico, oleo saccharum, passion fruit syrup, lemon juice and cava... think it was a bit sour for me haha. The salmon carpaccio (pickled cucumber and dill sherbet, aji amarillo and watermelon radish) starter was very nice. Then, it was the crab soufflé with snow crab, gruyere and double-boiled consomme. The escargot and abalone with baked basil chicken skin butter and creamed spelt was one of my favourite! Before the mains were served, we were given lemon sorbet with ginger to cleanse the palate... refreshing.
I opted for the chicken ballotine and foie gras that had spinach-walnut stuffing, apricot sauce, brussels sprouts, red currants and potato pave. I'm not usually a fan of foie gras but I like this one because the outer layer was crisp!
Ian had their lamb while Potato and Fran ate their angus tenderloin. Finally, I liked the eggnort parfait with brandy, cocoa crumble, apricot compote, cranberries and housemade marzipan! I didn’t mind that bit of almond essence and ate Potato’s portion too haha!Merry Christmas to Farmily! Ian made friends with some guy there and he recommended us to his bar nearby, so off we went.I had the Shirley temple mocktail and we drank and chatted from 9 to 10.30pm. It was not "the end" yet because there were chocolates and another episode of "Culinary Class Wars" waiting for us in our hotel room when we got back lol.
25/12/24 Weds: Woke up later and we walked to Pavilion mall for brunch at11am. There was quite a long queue at Fuiyoh Uncle Roger's restoran even before it opened. We waited for 45mins or so. *coincidentally, I wore orange today lol~*
The Special fry rice with chilli and garlic prawn tasted not bad at first with the wok hei smell but got oily towards the end. Nice crispy chicken though. Potato had the normal fry rice with smoked duck meat. After we finished lunch at 12.45pm, there was still a long queue outside. Potato treated us to Chicha San Chen (RM40.5) because I felt like having tea after the oily lunch.
Their dongding oolong with honey and konjac jelly (RM12.4) was so nice! Fran had black tea with honey while Ian drank the osmanthus oolong tea with konjac jelly.Checked out at 2pm and checked in to Monkeys Canopy resort at 4pm. Damn packed on Christmas day. We had to check in later because they needed time to clear rooms and even though we were given free massage tickets, we could not use it because their schedules were full... stupid compensation. The boys played a game of pool for RM 5 at the EVA game studio. The EVA game was going on but it was also full, so we gave up. We heard some customers complaining they could not play on time because their queue system cock up haiz. There were almost 500 rooms here and they are still expanding according to the staff who drove us to our rooms on a buggy. We stayed in two rooms and it was quite cosy.Ian and PotaTOHs spent the late afternoon at the indoor extreme park from 5.30 to 7pm. There were high elements but I don't think it was as scary as the one at Bedok's Forest Adventure Park.
I think I’ve gotten a lot braver haha! Had some fun going through the obstacles there. Then, we met Fran for dinner at Jeuji from 7 to 8.30pm.We had lots of beef and pork meat. We had soju over dinner and I don't know how or why but I got quite a bad headache quite soon though. I felt a bit giddy and wanted to go back to room to rest soon. Maybe I was a bit drunk? Lol.
