Backdate: Khao Kho trip Aug 2018 Day 4 & 5

25/8/18 Sat: We checked-out from Phu Sandao resort at about 11am, and left the place after taking the complimentary breakfast. The sky looked gloomy that day, but we were still looking forward to a day of adventure at Khao Kho National Park (rappelling at Wang Tum waterfall) or Phu Kaew resort and adventure park.

The former was not opened due to bad weather, and Wit drove some distance to Phu Kaew resort and adventure park, which the person told us it was opened, despite some drizzle. But to our dismay, we kept going to the wrong destination even as Wit followed Google maps and asked people around the area. Soon, the rain worsened and we reckon it was fated that we were not supposed to experience any kind of adrenaline rush that day uh?
Changed plans and we drove to Tanrak Talaymok for lunch instead, a place I googled online last minute. Pretty sceneries around, and the decoration of the toilet makes one feel like they’d stepped into nature~
Photo-taking time for us ladies while Wit waited for the food at our table…
Lunch came and we had red Curry with chicken (the meat was a tad too hard), stir-fry cabbage with oyster sauce was yummy, and the phad thai was good! I had the matcha with milk too… shiok. Costed us 630 baht in all.
After that, Wit drove us to De Capoc resort to put our luggage down and rest before our visit to Lom Sak street that opens in the evening. We were given welcome drinks, and the staff brought us to our Twins deluxe room on the first floor (107)~ We paid 3500.11 baht on the spot for a night of stay with buffet breakfast… and the design of the room and surroundings were very much to my liking. *There is rain shower omg!*
Near the dining area was a infinity pool. Photos online has it that we can see the sunrise in the morning from the pool (but we didn’t as we were tired), and even though it was drizzling, Jess and I decided to take a dip in the pool since there was no one there anyway.
We took some photos before going out~ look at the views! There were so few people there that it felt like we’d booked the WHOLE resort lol.
It was 6pm when we reached Lom Sak walking street. There were some locals and some street stalls that were opened, not all. Most of them sold food, but there were a few that sold clothes and accessories etc. *There was a shop that sold kittens too!*
We had some fried egg and crabsticks and sausages (20 baht), vermicelli rolls with shrimp (10 baht) and fried chicken skin with rice wrapped inside (20 baht) which was plain but nice. After walking for a while, the rain got heavier and most stalls actually starting closing by then.
We crossed a colourful bridge and went to the other side of the river, but there was nothing much to see, just some students practicing K-pop dance in the open. We ate the eggs I had in Chiangmai (15 baht) but it tasted much saltier here.
By the time we went back to the main street, most stalls were already closed. I saw some Chinese煎饼, and bought the red bean and taro-flavoured ones, while Jess got the sesame and taro ones. It was 10 baht each and really nice.
Texted for Wit to pick us up at about 7.30pm. It was a rather long drive back and the roads were very dark at some parts… omg. *I did saw the Buddha statue at Wat Prathat Phasornkaew from afar.*
Once we were back in the resort, we’d thought of buying some beers or wines to drink for our last night of stay in Khao Kho, but by the time we headed back to the refreshment bar counter to check again after 10pm, it has already closed. *Oh well, we still had our Chinese煎饼for supper lol~*
26/8/18 Sun: Woke up at 7.30am for our breakfast by the infinity pool. Filling enough, and we had to leave at 8.30am for the long 5+ hours’ of drive to Don Mueang airport already. Kind of sleepy along the way for our flight at 5pm (Scoot TR869)…
Ate king prawn noodles at the airport… yums. We had their mango puree drink which was super thick and nice too… costed us 770 baht. Bought some coffee and matcha cookies, as well as shitake mushroom chips and other souvenirs to bring home too (320 baht).
Khao Kho was not yet a touristy place, and though things did not go according to our plan one-third of the time, I still enjoyed the experience overall. It was relaxing, but it did get bored at times due to the lack of activities to do there, but at least I had a travel partner whom I could talk well with~ I'm thankful! *Oh and the view below is what I'd miss for a long long time to come...*
