Backdate: Norway, Sweden, Finland Nov - Dec 2025 Day 4
30/11/25 Sun: Woke up once at 3am, but my alarm was set for 6am. Ate buffet breakfast 45 minutes later. *Potato "goped" one small tube of kaviar cream home haha~* The group departed for Oslo airport at 7.30am and it was snowing.
We were going for Norwegian Airlines DY370 at 9.30am, which will take us 1.5 hours to reach Tromso, northern part of Norway. *WS and Sidney had really heavy luggage, partly because of the heat packs they brought and had to re-pack.* The snow became heavier at Oslo airport and it was 0 degrees Celcius. We also saw a nine-week old puppy~ literally looked like 狗熊so cute!Didn't expect us to have to walk by foot to the rear exit hence we were rather unprepared haha. When we were on board the flight, we also saw de-iceing of the wings for the first time.Experienced very slight turbulence on the way over to Tromso, and by the time we alighted, we also had to walk on foot but we were quite used to the cold already by then. There was a lot of snow and the weather looked kind of cloudy and hazy. The bus drove 20 minutes to Quality Hotel Grand Tromso in the city for us to deposit our luggage first at about 1pm. Snapped a few shots outside our hotel because we can see the snowy mountain caps from here! Half an hour later, we began walking in the snow (literally snowing and stopping and snowing) to the Christmas market.Halfway over, Kee shared about the explorer Roald Amundsen, but his statue there was covered in snow lol. *Felt romantic while we walked in the snowy weather hehe~* Then, we arrived at Tromso Havn, the harbour looking towards the main island. Very pretty, albeit the sky was starting to get dark in the afternoon. And Sidney wanted me to take photos of her "snow ball fighting" with WS haha.Passed by a bus stop, and Tromso has pretty harbours! Called my FIL and MIL on the spot to share the view with them too haha~It was warm but not exactly crunchy. We also ate the 7-11 hotdog bun at 50 nok~ so-so. Six of us wandered nearby walking the streets and we actually saw another bubble tea shop!
Think the weather was quite cooling and we randomly popped into a tourist shop there too. *Sidney went to shake the ice off one of those decor trees haha.*Heard Christmas Caroling but there were just too many people down in that small alleyway, so we didn't stand there for long. *round snow falling from the sky~* Also walked past the Northernmost Macdonalds in the world haha.
We took some photos at the Tromso Cathedral. Also got to know that we’re all married couples... each pair were of same age~ PotaTOHs 37, Anthony and Gracie 34 and WS and Sidney were 30. We're a very funny and loud bunch haha, so much so some others in our group thought we knew each other before the trip because we always walked around together lol.Checked in to our room 524 to put stuff down at 4pm... ours was quite big but it seemed WS & Sidney's one were smaller. At 4.30pm, we left for king crab dinner... outside of Tromso island and towards the main island.
After about an hour and walk for three minutes or so, we were there at the long communal tables... the first group to eat at 5.30pm! It was very packed and 31 of us took up two tables. I sat beside Gladys and Diana while Potato was beside Gladys' husband and Diana's husband, Izaya.
Went into the chill room to see how he “killed” the king crab and cut it. *Yes it was alive and dead next second.* The staff said one crab can feed 4 people. He also said king crabs grow up till two metres, and can lose a limb to escape from predator, but it can take another 1.5 years to grow back. They are expensive because they can be 60m under water and near the rocks, so it was not easy to catch them. Still, they have a huge tank of them lol.
Crab bisque? It was towards the blander side… adding black pepper helped.
I was literally full from the crab meat, four prawns and one very dry salmon piece. The crab meat was very solid, firm and sweet. Claw meat was shiok! *See how happy Potato was? Thanks for cutting the crabs for me!*
Kee came in with a photo of the Aurora and everyone rushed outside. I managed to catch a glimpse of it too. Very lucky to see it on a day when the KP index says only 1.5, and it was snowing and the waeather was cloudy. It's quite faint, so seeing through camera was better.
The toilets were a bit of distance away but clean. It was about 7pm when we ended the satisfying feast and walked back to the bus waiting area.
Was a 40-minute ride back to our hotel and the view from our room was quite pretty at night! It's okay if the wifi was bad. We slept at 10+pm.
