Backdate: Japan Hokkaido Jun 2025 Day 8
17/6/25 Tues: Went out at 8.30am and saw a random bakery not far from our Airbnb. We were supposed to walk to Hakodate Morning Market Square, which was about 20 minutes away, for breakfast. It was a windy morning and still slightly cold.
Donburi Yokocho Market was just in the vicinity and was where we walked in for breakfast at 9.30am. It was a mini food court where there were a number of stalls selling Japanese food. We managed to find seats quite quickly, and PotaTOHs decided on sashimi sets (2,860 yen for two).
FIL bought the grilled ika and it was good! For our sashimi sets, there were seven types of sashimi and that's only 1,430 yen each~ value for money.Walked around for a bit after the 30 minutes' breakfast. Saw a stall selling hairy crab and it costed S$216 for that whoa! I also ate a Hojicha pudding (350 yen)... sweet and nice.Of course… lunch is "incomplete" without beer for my FIL lol! PotaTOHs were not too hungry, so we each had a small bowl of shio ramen. It was apparently Hakodate’s specialty. The “blue dolphin” cocktail I ordered had calpis and ginger ale in it… not bad.
Walked back home for a rest in the afternoon till about 5.30pm before we drove to Cape Tachimachi, which was not far away either. *parking was 400 yen*
The wind was strong but it was quite relaxing. Took a short stroll around and some photos. There's also many hiking trails in the area, but we did not plan for that. After half an hour, we drove out but took a different route back... it was interesting through the woods though.
My in-laws and PotaTOHs went to Daimon Yokocho at 6.30pm for dinner. There are 26 Yatai-style stalls there and after contemplating for a bit, we decided on a soba eatery. The shops were all very small though.
All of us had cold soba with tempura (1,500 yen each). They had onions and sweet corn tempura which were sweet and delicious! We enjoyed the 45-minute dinner a lot.
As LL and Dexter were at a nearby Macdonald for dinner, we went shopping at Aeon shopping mall at 7.30pm. Saw beers selling for less than S$1 a can~
Only spent 15 minutes there but bought some beers, gummies and banana because they were cheap~ only "burned" 1,959 yen from our pockets haha! Went to pick Dexter and LL up and returned to our Airbnb by 8.15pm. It was a windy night again~
