Lunch with Gwen @ Tiong Bahru Bakery cafe + 海底捞with Leon & YJ
30/8/25 Sat: My handsome Potato dressed in “school uniform” for the teachers’ band performance at Esplanade!
A new zi char stall opened near my in-laws’ place, so FIL treated us to dinner ($70+) at河水山. I was shocked to see the coffeeshop packed with people and long queues when I got there at 6pm. We had fish head curry with red sea bream ($26), 青龙菜、梅菜扣肉and deep-fried prawn cakes. I liked the青龙菜and梅菜扣肉, but the fish head curry was a bit too “coconut-ty” for me. The prawn cakes were a bit salty too.
31/8/25 Sun: A long day at work but Potato would always cook me a nice dinner! Teriyaki chicken, cabbage, mushrooms and carrots with cold soba~ slightly salty but still a great meal by my loving husband.
1/9/25 Mon: Good sweat-out session in boxing cardio class this morning when it's raining outside haha. There were three and a half sets of alternate cardio and core workouts, and damn I kept hearing my left hip joint make sound (albeit not painful) every time I do sit-ups or lift my left leg up. I'm pretty sure it has got to do with my sitting aches because I don't use to hear it in the past. Coach Gerald also explained the importance of nutrition and diet to muscle gain and fat loss, and weight and resistance training should make up more of our fitness routine while cardio workouts should be least.
2/9/25 Tues: Felt lazy this morning but still joined in resistance cardio class and it was easier than yesterday, but I also prefer resistance training to cardio haha. Targeted on different muscle groups but it was the core mainly.
Enjoyed the yummy shrimp okonomiyaki dinner with mushrooms and cabbage made by Potato~ and he paired it with a rich miso soup which had carrots, edamame and mushrooms in it!3/9/25 Weds: Went to Tiong Bahru Bakery at JEM with Gwen. She had cappuccino and I had yuzu kombuchu for a start since we weren't hungry as we spoke. Time flew by because we had so much to talk about and so I decided I should have my some egg mayo and salmon croissant for late lunch at 2+pm. *weird I don't think I tasted any salmon leh...* Anyway, the main point of the meet-up was catching up with Gwen after so long and she'd share some of the details she observed from reading my bazi and ziwei doushu haha... spot-on most of the time when it's about my personality. What she does in the psychic space is also intriguing to me and it's has always been comfortable chatting with her.
4/9/25 Thurs: Attended Jac's reformer class this morning by myself because Linh overslept haha. There were a few different moves and they were rather challenging for me too.
After tuition with SE, went back to my parents for dinner and mum has cooked one of my favourite steamed prawn cakes~ Potato's always happy with his omelette haha.
5/9/25 Fri: Only five students in Daryl's aerial basic class this morning and I kind of enjoyed the basic moves we did. Liked my assisted handstand haha! *Also made simple reels on IG from the videos I took in class and they do take time...*
Potato stir fried kimchi with pork belly meat, lotus soup with carrot and Hokkaido scallop, and also Chinese spinach with abalone for dinner~ so shiok!
6/9/25 Sat: Busy day at work so I even skipped lyrics class this afternoon. Luckily, I have "personal chef" Potato who cooked fried rice for dinner~ and it's his "signature" of ingredients more than rice every time haha!
7/9/25 Sun: Even busier day than yesterday but I'm lucky I have a talented hubby~ Potato cooked pork patty (he made from scratch again with pork meat, carrots, onions and mushrooms) with baked potatoes, brocolli and carrots for dinner tonight! The red wine sauce was nice! *I was so tired I couldn't even bring myself to feel angry or guilty at the checker's sarcasm towards my four typo mistakes made in the articles...*
8/9/25 Mon: Wheel yoga stretches with Anna this morning and a few of the moves were a bit challenging. Balancing on the wheel was alright though.
9/9/25 Tues: FIL and MIL came over to have lunch with us because they had some issues with SAFRA app and needed Potato's help.
Potato cooked Hokkaido-inspired soup curry udon with mushrooms, carrots, lady fingers, onions and potatoes with chicken stock and loads of Italian herbs hehe~ not bad though a tad salty.10/9/25 Weds: Met YJ and Leon for dinner at IMM's haidilao. Left the ordering to YJ since I rarely eat at hdl. *damn expensive eating ala carte there... $60+ a person omg* Three of us haven't caught up in a while and Leon has a business idea in mind regarding Chinese education. Who knows how things would go, but I will help as much as I can and if it can enhance the local Chinese education scene, it'd be great.
11/9/25 Thurs: Margareth's intermediate class this morning was alright, but one-leg short spine with the heaviest green spring on was quite tough! Had a nice HTHT with Linh over lunch, although the prawn mee was meh haha.
12/9/25 Fri: PotaTOHs chatted with Ian till 1am yesterday and woke up late at 9am this morning haha. I experienced this constant dull pressure on my bladder area, the constant urge to pee, and weird ache/itchiness towards the end of urinating,. During one of the times I peed in the morning, suddenly I saw blood omg. Did a quick search online and UTI was the most probable reason. So I went to see a doctor near lunch time at Peak Medical, and Dr Tommie Choo said similar things. He also mentioned the fact that it's my first time getting it at this age, it could be with dehydration, the bad habit of holding urine in (yes that's me since young), sexual activity or bad hygiene. He said it's very common for women to have UTI due to our short urethra and so bacteria can easily go from anus or vagina to the bladder. After consultation, I was given a five-day antibiotics and ural effervescence powder (make urine more akaline to reduce the symptoms)... $57 ouch.
Potato cycled to Cold Storage at West Mall to buy the ingredients for yong tau foo for our dinner! He paired it with dry maggie noodle and it was a simple but hearty meal!
