《我们与恶的距离2》+ SG60 Heart & Soul Experience exhibition + "The 5 Types of Wealth: A Transformative Guide to Design Your Dream Life" + Bro's 34th bday dinner + WZ's 37th bday dinner @ Myung Ga II with Pat

13/9/25 Sat: PotaTOHs finished watching《我们与恶的距离2》.

也是一部很出色的续集!我几年前看了《我》深深被触动,it was so thought-provoking。

We agree to disagree. 真的太难了。看《我2》我也不知道哭了几次lol。为这世界太多的灰色地带感到无助、难过。

After my lyrics class, I took 175 to town to meet Potato for the "SG60 Heart and Soul Experience" at Orchard Library. We had our avatars (which I didn't really see much of), went through a time portal that recapped Singapore's history briefly, and then went to see visuals of how living in Singapore would be like in future. Nothing too wow but we each received a simple bookmark~ nice.

We then had dinner at Fishmart Sakurara at West Coast Plaza. Had salmon, yellow tail, sea bream and grunt, a seasonal fish~ also ordered hokae, wasabi octopus, shishamo and tamakoyaki~ overkill lol ($51.77 after using a $50 Krisflyer discount voucher).

14/9/25 Sun: Long working day but thankful I got to eat delicious Vongole spaghetti with scallops, shimeiji shrooms and mushrooms cooked by Potato for dinner~

Finished reading Sahil Bloom's "The 5 Types of Wealth: A Transformative Guide to Design Your Dream Life".

A visualisation exercise he mentioned left a deep impression for me: Close your eyes and imagine your ideal day at eighty years old (or one hundred, in the case of the ninety-year-old!). Vividly imagine it. What are you doing? Who are you with? Where are you? How do you feel?

This exercise forces us to begin with the ideal future end in mind and it establishes a personal definition of a successful life that can be used to reverse-engineer the actions in the present to achieve that desired end. How interesting.

Bloom mentioned the five types of wealth, namely time, social, mental, physical and financial wealth, and there are self-checking tests to see how well readers are doing in each aspect. *Oh I'm worst in the mental department, only slightly better in terms of time wealth... and the rest were okay.*

He spoke to one 80-year-old father of a close friend, whom expressed regret over his body's deterioration over the years: "Treat your body like a house you have to live in for another seventy years." He added, "If something has a minor issue, repair it. Minor issues become major issues over time. This applies equally to love, friendships, health, and home."

And also to another 92-year-old who had lost his beloved wife of seventy years. "Tell your partner you love them every night before falling asleep; someday you'll find the other side of the bed empty and you'll wish you could tell them." *PotaTOHs do this every day and night. <3*

I agreed a lot on the above, and also what another interviewee said about how everyone we love "are on loan to us for a short period of time and that they are gone in the blink of an eye". Just as we keep on chasing the "never enoughs", we tend to neglect the whos and whats we should have given more time to in our life.

"Time wealth", according to Bloom, is the freedom to choose how to spend your time, whom to spend it with, where to spend it, and when to trade it for something else.  We don't want to be trapped in a perpetual loop of busyness, running faster and faster but never making progress, and with little control over how time is spent and whom it is spent with. Then Bloom mentioned this paradox of time: You are subconsciously aware of the immense value of your time, but you regularly and consciously take actions that disregard that value. We engage in low-value activities that pulls us away from the things that really matter.

So, one way to deal with that is using the idea of time-blocking to block out windows for specific activities we want to do or we want to be with.

And the three pillars of Time Wealth that Bloom said are awareness, attention, and control, in which awareness comes first, attention next, and control last. From awareness (developing an understanding of the fleeting time remaining) to attention (narrowing the aperture to focus on the things that truly matter) to control (allocating time according to goals and values)!

"Social wealth" is the connection to others in our personal and professional worlds; the depth and breadth of your connection to those around you.  It is defined by a few deep, meaningful, healthy relationships and a fulfilling breadth of surface ties throughout our community or culture.

"Mental wealth" is the connection to a higher-order purpose and meaning that provides motivation and guides your short- and long-term decision making. It is grounded in a pursuit of growth and an engagement in lifelong learning and development. For example, meditating on a regular basis~ but it's also something I tend to put off when I have other commitments haiz.

"Physical wealth" is our health, fitness, and vitality. It is the focus on the controllable actions around movement, nutrition, and recovery and the creation of consistent habits to promote vigour. Our body will take care of us in time to come if we take care of it now, so always invest in it!

"Financial wealth" is defined as financial assets minus financial liabilities, what we call "net worth". The definition of enough is crucial here. If expectations rise faster than assets, then we will never have a life of true financial wealth because we'll always need more. Financial Wealth is built upon growing income, managing expenses, and investing the difference in long-term assets that compound meaningfully over time.

All in all, I agreed with what Bloom said about never having to think twice about investments in yourself when it comes to books, courses, education, fitness, networking events, mental health, personal development, sleep and healthy food! These investments may look like expenses, but they can all pay dividends in our life for a long time.

Quoting from the book below because I find them to be useful reminders:

1. Family time is finite-cherish it. (always working on this)

2. Children time is precious-be present. (even if I don't have, it's a nice reminder to parents out there)

3. Friend time is limited-prioritize the real friends. (I know who are the friends that makes effort too)

4. Partner time is meaningful-never settle. (always be understanding and appreciative)

5. Coworker time is significant-find energy. (shun those not worth my time)

6. Alone time is abundant-love yourself. (I definitely love this!)

15/9/25 Mon: Good workout on the reformer this morning with Margareth. *Always nice and challenging to do the full teaser!*

Potato cooked meatless japchae for dinner! He put oyster sauce, light soy sauce, chilli oil and chicken stock in the mix, together with 100g of japchae (a bit too little for two pax), mushrooms, carrots, eggs, sesame seeds and Chinese spinach.

16/9/25 Tues: Good TCM massage with HL this morning before I tried the bah kut teh ($8.8) at Gombak central. It was the nice herbal sort, but a bit sweet and pricey still.

Stir-fried pork belly slices marinated with honey, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, white pepper and garlic. I added black pepper while stir frying too, but could have added more white pepper on hindsight. Brocolli could have been a bit more cooked too.

17/9/25 Weds: PotaTOHs tried Saizeriya at Le Quest mall for dinner since there was no queue. My spicy tomato vongole pasta ($5.9) was okay, but his chicken chop with cheese was not bad. The asparagus with egg mayo ($4.9) was so-so, but the mushroom soup ($2.9) was quite nice. Their Italian pudding ($3.9) was ok too. Cost Potato $25.1 in total.

18/9/25 Thurs: Attended aerial yoga with Nishy this morning and we had a few spins and flip up. A bit of arm strength required but it was still quite fun.

Bro picked his birthday zi char dinner from Good Fortune Seafood 福满海鲜and he chose the prawn paste chicken and left the rest to me. There was stir-fried vensison meat, beancurd with shrooms and brocolli with prawns. They were so-so, though the sauces were nice. Mum fried onion egg to go along with it. *Like he said, it's the thought that counts! Be healthy and happy, bro!*

Mum also let me try a new fruit she call“姑娘”lol~ must be because it looks like“含苞待放”lo lol. It's Cape gooseberries apparently. Sweet and no seed~

19/9/25 Fri: My uneven hips has been bothering me for months now, so I looked up a series of stretches to do and they do relieve the ache, so I shall try to do it on a daily basis and see if it helps. Also wrote a letter to the "2030 me"~ to be opened five years later on my birthday! It felt good to "talk to myself" this morning as I wrote the letter. Will edit it further and hopefully, seal it on my birthday this year!

Met WZ and Pat for WZ's bday dinner at Myung Ga II at Tanjong Pagar. The lady boss was in, so we enjoyed a small plate of complimentary gimbaps she made on the spot. I had the seafood soy bean paste stew set ($19) and it was alright. We enjoyed the kimchi pancake though!

I think the prices are slightly steeper compared to the Bukit Timah branch... $80+ overall. Then, we went over to Overscoop to eat lava cake, earl grey lavender and strawberry cheesecake with matcha ($20) and chit chat. The dessert was not bad, especially the earl grey lavender ice-cream. Nice to hear updates of their lives too!

20/9/25 Sat: Potato cooked "extra prawny" prawn pasta with prawn stock and whiskey for dinner~ very delicious and he said the price was less than $4 per pax haha.

21/9/25 Sun: SE's mum gave me a bottle of chrysanthemum bud for Teacher's Day and I used it with American ginseng to boil PotaTOHs some cooling drink this afternoon.

Enjoyed a hearty meal prepared by Potato for dinner~ the minced pork meat with eggs were so good! The winter gourd soup with carrots, sweet corn and red dates in chicken stock was sweet and nice too.

22/9/25 Mon: Deep stretch yoga was intense. There was a lot of deep muscle work on the legs and also backbends, what I’m weakest at most probably.
Also heard news from Ice that Paradigm Wellness, including Altitude and Habitude studios are closing! I love these boutique studios, especially Altitude because I had so many good yoga classes and Gyrotonics with them! My one and only Les Mills bodycombat class with John at Habitude was also awesome! Yoga classes wise, I especially enjoyed Yen’s body rolling and footwork classes because she taught us many little things about alignment and awareness, and she was the one who pointed out my weak left QL too.
I found serenity when I go for classes there and I really appreciate the small size and “no cater to masses” style! If I were under their in-house package, they would open up the mat classes even if I were the only one who turns up for that group class. No other studios has made me feel the same way because most of them are very commercialised and have many students in their classes… well businesses I know~ Now I can only drop the plan of returning for classes at Paradigm Wellness. It will remain to be one of the best studios I’d been to.

Bought hokkien mee (two for $4.24) from West Terra because of GRAB’s sale and the taste was alright, but portion was good enough and worth the price hehe~

23/9/25 Tues: Nice to sweat in resistance cardio starters this morning and now I’m contemplating about buying weights from Decathlon because I need heavier weights in some of the moves than just my 250g (one side) piloxing gloves lol.
Decided on kimchi stew for our replacement meatless dinner tonight! I had a recipe from online, but did not follow exactly because some measurements were different for two pax. Sauteed oyster shrooms, kimchi, onions and garlic before I added in kimchi, gochujang and chilli flakes. Then, I added chicken stock and water, as well as sesame oil, light soy sauce, salt and sugar, before the pressed tofu and bok choy went in last. Also cooked two hard-boiled eggs hehe~ Flavour came out not bad though Potato thought it was a bit spicy for him.
24/9/25 Weds: Writing the rap stanzas for our final themed-assignment Hip-Hop, and it was really long lol. Cooked Ichiran ramen with scallops, bok choy, onions and crabsticks for lunch~ I must say it's probably my favourite instant noodle lol. So flavourful.
Felt ups and downs in a day today: SPH contract extended, new freelance for ShinMin coming up, completed half of my rap lyrics after like half a day, new voluntary work for TOUCH Community Services ready to start anytime, Trinice forgot tuition, bad news from Angela and LLs’ sides… but it was nice to have cold somen with teriyaki chicken, cherry tomatoes and Japanese cucumbers Potato cooked for dinner.

25/9/25 Thurs: *Been using the eye pillow for sleep past three days and I must say, I felt my sleep quality getting better even if I do wake up in the middle of the night.* Elsie used the spine corrector on the mat for half the intermediate class this morning and I enjoyed it! A nice challenge for us before we went back to the usual reformer and did swan dives etc.
Tried the strawberry roll cake Linh made and it was not too sweet, but the burnt cheesecake too cheesy for me.
Had yummy red grouper, lotus, carrot, 珍珠豆and淮山soup, slightly blander steamed egg and fried ngor hiang for dinner at my parents’… shiok~

26/9/25 Fri: Finished three episodes of “Mindfulness Manual” documentary on Netflix and I really like that meditation is proven to help our awareness and control of emotions, and it just reminds me to jump back into it again… hopefully daily again!
Potato cooked tom yam sotong with green capsicums and Japanese cucumber, and enoki shrooms with sweet corn miso soup~ it was delicious!
