Hiking @ Rifle Range, lunch @ Chirashizushi Shou, tea-time @ James & Poker @ Ian’s + Fitball Pilates, Greendot & The Penny Black + Ah Fatt Kelong trip with Potato & his sec sch friends + Singapore Racing Awards 2022 gala dinner

8/3/23 Weds: Potato cooked seafood marinara for me on International Women’s Day haha! There’s squid, prawn, green capsicum, onion, garlic and shimeiji shroom with spaghetti in tomato sauce~ so shiok and blessed to have home-cooked dishes as always!

9/3/23 Thurs: PotaTOHs had nasi lemak at Blk 177’s coffee shop before he treated me to ice-cream at Lickers café! We had the strawberry passionfruit which was refreshing and went well with the oolong lavender-flavoured one! *I know Potato很疼我啦keke~*

10/3/23 Fri: Did Qigong and Piloxing at home via Zoom today~ Piloxing with coach Irene was very tiring too. Had simple home-cooked dinner for myself!

11/3/23 Sat: The sky didn’t looked a bit gloomy in the morning, but I decided to go on with our trek at Rifle Range Park. PotatTOHs met Jess at 9.30am on the entrance of the bridge opposite to Beauty World Centre, where we walked towards the Rambai Hut via the Gliders Boardwalk.

Saw the short forest exploration trail for kids but a part of the area was under construction. We also hiked up the Colugo Trail and saw a panoramic view of the surroundings atop Colugo Deck, located 31 m above the Quarry Wetland. *NEA limit 20 people on the deck at any time.*

We continued our walk on the Banyan Trail, where we saw a stream, and then onto the Gaharu Trail. Saw one baboon and “one fat lump of animal” hugging a tree branch on the way back but we couldn’t tell what animal that was lol. The whole walk took us about one and a half hours.

PotaTOHs had chirashi dons at Chirashizushi Shou ($44.88) at Bukit Timah Plaza and though expensive, our cravings were satisfied hehe. Ian and Cherlyn came over to meet us and picked up their lunch orders from Tok Panjang before we headed over to James’.

Tried different varieties of Luwak coffee (i.e. with milk and without, hot and cold) that James brewed and also one other coffee bean from Indonesia while we enjoyed kuehs that Ian bought. PY reached in the late afternoon and she was very tired from her company’s overnight shoot.

PotaTOHs, PY and Cherlyn headed to Ian’s for the night and we had good duck rice, kway chup, fried crackers and oyster omelette from a coffee shop nearby his place for dinner. After that, Ian taught PY and I how to play “Poker”. *I was a bit confused at first but “beginner’s luck” was indeed a thing and I ended up the winner that night lol.*

12/3/23 Sun: Potato air-fried FIL’s虾枣and we ate them with celery, carrot and mushroom for dinner. The sweet corn, carrot, cordycep flower and onion in chicken stock was so sweet~ *He craved and bought some sushi from NTUC at night… of course I’d benefitted from them too haha.*

13/3/23 Mon: Tried Fitball Pilates with Yip this morning instead of my usual reformer classes. There were about seven of in class and we did mostly Pilates move but all with the Fitball instead. Quite a bit of balance and core strength work there and so I sweated a bit haha. *But 9.30am is too early for me considering I had worked the day before… will still attend once in a while when I feel like it.*

Potato cooked meatless japchae for us for lunch~ nice!

PotaTOHs craved for the meatless tempura at Greendot at One Raffles Place so we went down to eat the don and udon again… but the fried vegetables just didn’t feel as crispy as the first time we ate there. Ian jio-ed us for a drink at The Penny Black and we talked for more than an hour before heading home.

14/3/23 Tues: Did simple inverted hook in aerial yoga tonight.

15/3/23 Weds: Had a bowl of simple chicken noodle soup Potato cooked for early dinner before going out for my Yin Yoga and Wheel Yoga class tonight.

Attempted to do the easier version of the crow pose and I did it for two seconds haha~ at least I got the “feel” of it. Was not captured on camera but Yip took a photo for the other pose of mine.

16/3/23 Thurs: Two ladies from Germany Dolphin company came for a free trial session at PotaTOHs’ for he cleaning and dust mite removal service in the morning. The machine, water-based and no filter at all, was so good that it can be used to clean practically anywhere in the house. She vacuumed our mattress, pillows, floor, air-con and used it as an air purifier for 15 minutes to reduce the amount of pollutants/air particles in the master bedroom… looked like it worked under her torchlight in the dark, enclosed room. A pity it’s too expensive… $123 for 36 months. When we rejected her, she said they could sell the display set at about $90+ a month for 36 months lol… still expensive la, but we applaud the Chinese lady for her efforts and really good sales tactics.

Potato stir-fried Chinese spinach with mushroom and carrot, and also duck meat with thin potato sticks and chopped sausage for dinner~ yummy, especially the thin potato sticks that were slightly seared!

17/3/23 Fri: We woke up at 4.45am or so because the van would be here at 5.30am to pick us up after fetching PY, Joan, Galv, Tiff and Josh. We were worried about the jam at the Causeway but it was so smooth we'd clear both customs by 6.10am, albeit the one at JB took longer. We had breakfast at 8.10am or so, and I only tried their papadum for RM1 because I already had a full sandwich since waking up.

We boarded Ah Fatt ferry at 10.30am or so for RM2 per person for a 20mins' ride. Everything was new for me as a first-timer at a Kelong trip in Mersing.

Lunch was served at 11.30am. *They served us four meals a day and would always ring the bell when food is ready!*
Potato nua-ed for a while watching people fish before he taught me how to using one of Josh's rods. I didn't catch any on the first day and the huge waves also made me giddier as I stand near the edge. We played mahjong in the later afternoon. Someone caught a huge catfish. Dinner was early at 5.30pm.

Endured the cold in the shower and ate supper. Their sautéed onion and ikan bilis went very well with the fried noodles! I liked the white fungus dessert soup, but the white fungus were very crunchy though…
Everyone continued to fish at night because there were even more kunings to be caught. The lights went out at 11+pm but it was still noisy around. The wind and current was so strong every time the big waves came, the whole kelong seemed to shake a bit.
18/3/23 Sat: I woke up at 5am and then used the toilet at 6am because my menses came. They rang the bell at 7.30am for breakfast and there was chicken curry rice which was not bad.
Then, we had lunch at 11am. After that, I struck a "windfall" because I'd caught four fish in a row, though two were Queen fishes which were not nice to eat, so we threw them back into the sea. Was addicted to mahjong with Joan, PY and Potato too... especially when the sun was very hot. Tiff, Josh and Galv played once in a while as well.
We also caught many kunings and one Gar fish which we requested for them to gut and fry them for RM 50 for supper. The Gar fish meat, used to make fishballs normally, was not very soft but still tender, and it has blue bones hmm~ On a side note, I myself ate like 7-8 fishes... crunchy when they were pipin' hot! As usual, we had dinner at 5pm, before supper was served at 8pm. *Very relaxing trip~ so enjoyable... bar my menses tsk.*

After that, Potato went to sleep before 12am and the rest of us played Mahjong till 12.45am while teaching Tiff. *There was one time when i got 南西北 x2 and 发 x2 at the start but didn't manage to win such a beautiful hand.*

19/3/23 Sun: It rained pretty heavily for a bit after I used the toilet at 5.30am. We ate their porridge with preserved vegetable and scrambled egg... nice.

Had some flower crabs at 11.30am for lunch before we packed up and waited for the ferry to pick us up at 1pm.

It departed half an hour later and we only reached the terminal at 1.45pm. Our driver picked us up and drove to a Shell station near JB customs at about 4+pm. At 4.30pm, we joined the queue towards customs but luckily, the Woodlands Causeway was clear and we cleared Singapore customs by 6.10pm.

They dropped PotaTOHs home first, and after that, Potato whipped up chicken leg pieces, shimeiji shroom and Chinese spinach with linguine in cream sauce for dinner~ so shiok! *Having a micro-managing team up there is already bad, but work gets even tougher when you now have to teach and re-teach new staff after they flopped in their attempt to help you… 越帮越忙!*

20/3/23 Mon: Felt like it’s been a while since my last Pilates class with Chisa haha~ *Always nice to be able to focus on the exercise and don’t think about work!* Our meatless dinner tonight~

21/3/23 Tues: Hectic day. Had to do ushering work for the VIPs and media from 5pm onwards. Sat with Lydia, Ms Lew, Joleen, Zhang Jun, Ronnie, Loon, JC and Eunice near the front. The visuals on the stage was nice, but the food, bar the salmon appetiser which was good, others were either salty or too sweet. Left the Club at 10pm and I only finished the PR at about 11pm.

22/3/23 Weds: *So tired this afternoon that I napped for two hours lol.* Used my massage balls from Decathlon for the first time during Yin Yoga class and it was such a good release. Tried modified poses on the wheel too and I could feel my arms shaking for one of the pose.
