Potato’s senior recital + Fran’s 34th bday dinner @ Artichoke + Brunch buffet @ Racine Sofitel + 《환승연애 시즌2》+ Pablo Blau signature salt rm facial + dinner @ Beng Hiang + XY & Jake’s wedding luncheon @ Raffles Hotel

13/11/22 Sun: Came home to yummy salmon, spinach and shimeiji cream spaghetti cooked by Potato after work! Looks like this can be one of his ‘signature’ dishes hehe~

14/11/22 Mon: Had a good pilates reformer session in the morning. Bought the Japanese tofu because it was cheap (two 300g boxes for $1.30) but it turned out a bit too soft so some parts broke up when I flipped it onto a plate lol. Cooked napa cabbage and carrot soup with enoki and cabbage shroom dumpling, as well as tried my hand at the stir-fried grid-cut king oyster mushroom recipe I saw from IG… the sauce was darker than I thought (probably due to the dark vinegar) instead of the orange colour in the video, and the taste was on the heavier side but Potato and I still enjoyed it as it went well with the ‘qq’ king oyster mushroom!

15/11/22 Tues: The rope burn I suffered from the aerial flow tonight was no joke~ now my armpits, especially the left one is quite sore and sensitive. It was fun no doubt.

16/11/22 Weds: Potato cooked oyako don with miso soup for dinner and I cut oranges for us to eat after that because it’s fruits anniversary for us this year hehe~ *He secretly bought sushi too haha!*

18/11/22 Fri: *I cannot agree with the management’s way of doing certain things. I don’t disagree with the idea of change, but don’t be in your own bubble and expect people to know things your way without informing them. Affects my work too tsk.* We enjoyed the honey chicken cutlet rice Potato bought from NTU and our favourite peach white tea from iTea!

19/11/22 Sat: Came home to awesome vongole pasta cooked by Potato! Had white wine to go with it as well hehe~ *Decisions can make business sense but can they include racing sense too?*

21/22/22 Mon: Good workout on the reformer this morning, and I bumped into CY, an ex-STC colleague because we both bought lunch at the same chicken rice stall at Bukit Batok lol. Bought a bouquet of sunflower ($35) for Potato because MIL and I were going to attend his senior recital at NIE in the afternoon.

He performed seven pieces on the guitar and bass, together with his professor Dr Larry and his schoolmates. Both MIL and I enjoyed those jazz pieces a lot! Then, three of us headed to the newly opened Don Don Donki Sensen at Jurong Point for dinner, where we had sushi~ not bad though the seasonal items were sold out already.
22/11/22 Tues: Had a meeting with Dayle, LK and Michael to discuss about the Singapore Racing Awards next year. *Glad we’re all on the same page now.* Mum cooked assam stingray for us for dinner~ shiok! After that, I attended my last aerial yoga lesson before I go for a break and decide if I want to join them again most probably next year. I do miss it a bit because I’d been attending classes quite regularly for five to six years now, so hopefully I can sort out my personal schedule and return to classes soon!

23/11/22 Weds: Potato cooked meatless Japanese curry by adding in shimeiji and king oyster mushroom, carrot, potato, red capsicum and onion into the gravy, which went so well with the rice! He left to watch Angela’s concert at a bar with Ian, while I figured how to find ways to watch the live telecast of the Germany VS Japan World Cup match. The two guys came home at 10+pm and Ian and I watched the match together while he had MacDonalds as his late dinner.

24/11/22 Thurs: Ate Saizeriya with Tracy and Cat… their spicy vongole pasta ($5.90) was nice. It sort of changed my impression of Saizeriya because the last I had it years ago, I thought their food were so bland despite the cheaper costs.

Came home to Potato’s dishes: ABC soup and stir-fried chicken, snow pea, king oyster mushroom and enoki shroom in tom yam sauce~ always warming my heart and stomach!

25/11/22 Fri: PotaTOHs bought the blueberry cream cake ($58) from Paris Baguette before heading down to Artichoke to meet Ian, Cherlyn, Fran, her sister, PY and James for Fran’s birthday dinner.

It was my first time having just Mediterranean dishes for a meal. I enjoyed the hummus with bread as a starter, and everyone agreed that the grilled octopus was awesome. We pre-ordered the 2.4kgs ‘lambgasm’ dish that Fran wants to try and it was the highlight of the night. The pulled meat was soft but it got jelak after a while… the basmati rice in it did not help either.

26/11/22 Sat: Last race day of the season and both Danny and Jake got a winner each, hence two stories on my side for them and plus the translation, I worked till 1am gosh. Potato surprised me with a brand new dish tonight… Vietnamese ‘ramen’ soup! The base was essentially cooked from simmering star anise, cinnamon, pork bone, fish sauce, light soy sauce etc.

Even though we did not have pho and the cinnamon taste was slightly stronger in the soup, everything else looked and tasted authentic hehe! *Potato would always say he cooks for me with TLC keke~ I’m very blessed.*

27/11/22 Sun: Ian treated PotaTOHs and Cherlyn to Sunday brunch buffet at Racine, Sofitel hotel. We all liked the crab meat, but the boys found the oyster and other seafood meh. I liked the cold soba with crab meat too, but found all other dishes, no matter Asian, sushi and dessert etc so-so.

Caught the match between Japan and Costa Rica and Japan lost 0-1. PotaTOHs was in the final wrap-up stage for our itinerary that night, looking at places we could possibly take note for dining in Kyushu. *Damn my left ear and back of the head experienced weird ache since after the dinner at Artichoke. Hopefully, it goes away soon.*
28/11/22 Mon: I cooked a simple udon in sweet corn soup with our bit of homegrown Caixin, egg, lentil and mushroom dumpling~ glad I cut that red chilli in hehe.

Finished watching《환승연애 시즌2》 (Transit Love 2).

As usual, there were boring parts that I skipped haha. Four couples at first but the first two dropped out due to ‘breaking of rules’ which got the audience confused as the production team never explained what and why.

Tai I was such a poor thing at the start but I’m glad he found a compatible partner in the smart Na Eon in the end. Ex-couple Na Eon and Hyeon Gyu rooted so well for one another, and the latter ended up winning over Hae Eun’s heart… who’d been so torn for her ex-bf Gyu Min!

Sadly, Na Yeon still chose Hee Doo in the end but I thought they shouldn’t go back together because they simply quarrel non-stop on the show lol. Ji Yeon’s a charismatic girl and she looked compatible with Hee Doo, but a pity he chose to let her go. Gyu Min and Na Yeon? They do look good together, but hunch feeling tells me they won’t last even if they got together because the girl’s kind of a ‘princess’. One of my favourite nice guy on the show, Won Bin, realised in the end that he still wanted to get back with Ji Soo, but she looks to be already over him, sadly.

Rating: 4/5

30/11/22 Weds: Potato cooked and seared the salmon slices and made mashed potatoes with big chilli to go with the Japanese cucumber~ so good a meal after a session of Nirvana Fitness. Was packing for my trip to Kyushu at night but realised that two pairs of zippers in my big luggage bag were stuck! We thought it could be the rust of the metal that caused it, so I was applying vinegar and warm water to it in the hope that they would separate.

1/12/22 Thurs: *Potato helped by spraying WD40 to it because vinegar did not seem to work last night. Then again, that problem could have been there since COVID-19 started la…* Enjoyed a complimentary facial session at Pablo Blau where Cheryl, my therapist recommended the Purify and Clarify (75mins) treatment for my skin. Before going into the salt-filled treatment room, I stepped into their small ‘salt lounge’ and it looked as if one’s in a salt mine lol. I don’t smell anything at all but it’s said to kill bacteria and help clear one’s airways through this halotherapy.

Cheryl was professional and rather knowledgeable when it comes to explaining my skin problems and going through the to-do steps for the facial. Apparently, my skin is clogged/congested quite badly with all the ‘white seeds’ (milia which are bumps on the skin surface) and white heads because I don’t go facial often nor do I extract the impurities myself, so my skin cannot really absorb the good of facial products I apply on. She cleansed my skin, opened up the pores using a steamer while doing head massage, trimmed my eyebrows and then began removing the milia by poking the surface using a needle. She explained that my skin is oily on the outside by dry inside, so it’s harder to push the ‘white seeds’ out. Oh and she also mentioned that my acne marks are mild but the dented kind, so something like a collagen infusion (if I chose to sign up which I did not) from one of their treatments can help with it. *Sounded like she’s against chemical peeling, which I never wanted to do anyway.* Then, she used a hand-held machine to produce argon gas (a smell I remember because I used to do it at another salon at Outram area years ago) to remove bacteria and purify the skin before applying a calming mask. It was nice of her not to hard sell (but I don’t think they need to since they have lots of corporate bank customers anyway~) but the promotional rates are not cheap at six sessions (another one which includes 100% collagen infusion once she deems my skin is unclogged and can take in more nutrients from there) for $1176! *I have my priorities and since both pimple nor acne is an issue for me nowadays, and that milia was the only superficial problem I have to deal with, I’m sure I can find somewhere nearer and that provides cheaper alternatives to deal with this ‘not so pressing problem’ of mine.* I certainly enjoyed my time there compared to some other salons I have visited recently, and if I have the money someday, why not?

Went to Kwan Im Thong to pay my respects and then had ate fried fish dumping kway teow ($4) at the hawker centre nearby… not bad! Spent some me-time shopping at The Form, Mis Zapatos and Innit. I bought a bag from Mis Zapatos that I’d been eyeing since I saw it at Takashimaya the last time. Tried on two dresses at Innit but the style doesn’t suit me… unique pleated designs but it’s a bit of a hassle too because it can only be handwashed.

Caught the World Cup group match between Belgium and Croatia. I rooted for the latter but during the second half of the match, Belgium had so many near-misses… I reckon the striker did not pray sincerely before the match la lol! *Japan up against Croatia next on the night we fly to Kyushu!*

2/12/22 Fri: Went to see the doctor who did the ear syringing on my left ear four months ago at Distinct Clinic, but she didn’t think that my left ear pain that comes and goes had to do with infection, but I still got the antibiotics from her to bring with me overseas just in case. *I wonder if it’s TMJ? Shall monitor and go for a CT scan if more prominent symptoms appear.*

Met Ahna, LL and Jess for dinner at Beng Hiang restaurant at JE after my Piloxing session. *Lol Jess and LL still got me three slices of a very-belated ‘birthday cakes’ from Homies bakery!* Beng Hiang specialises in Hokkien dishes, and Ahna treated us to claypot braised duck with sea cucumber, fish maw thick soup with crab meat, fried oyster with egg omelette, 五香虾枣, hokkien noodles and stir-fried watercress with dried shrimp.

We each also ordered dessert and I went ahead with the longan beancurd without knowing that it was almond beancurd, so Ahna was nice enough to exchange her lemongrass jelly with aloe vera with me. I enjoyed the soup, sea cucumber and sauce, crispy egg omelette and五香虾枣! The hokkien noodles were okay but the stir-fried watercress was a tad bitter. LL bought us chocolates and I passed them their early Xmas gifts which were hand creams that I got from Fresh!

3/12/22 Sat: Dad, mum and bro visited PotaTOHs’ nest for the first time as a family. It was dad and bro’s first time at our place. We had steamboat for dinner~

Chatted for a bit and bro tried VR game for the first time, playing ‘Angry Bird’. Mum also wore the headset to get a feel of the virtual setting as well.

4/12/22 Sun: PotaTOHs attended XY and Jake’s wedding luncheon at Palm ballroom at Raffles Hotel with SS, Mich, YY, MT, LC and YQ.
*The ballroom was very pretty and the whole style suited the couple very well! I’m happy with my pink dress from The Form and slip-on green heels from Daphne!* Most of the food were good, my favourites were the baked cod fillet with manuka honey and premium soy sauce and braised abalone, horned whelk and cabbage consommé. The starter which had sweet and sour prawn, honey-glazed Kurobuta pork and roasted pineapple and scallops on cordyceps flower and spinach roll, as well as the peach gum with aloe vera and lemongrass jelly was nice too. *SS ordered a glass of ‘kumquat’ juice and I don’t know how but Mich knocked over her glass of orange juice not long after lol.*

Headed over to my in-laws and we saw them, MM, Andre and Luke coming home from the playground nearby. Both of us were too full to eat dinner, so we only had a bit of food my FIL cooked.
