Inferno + YB's belated 31st bday brunch @ Princess Terrace Cafe + dinner with Ben & Jess @ Sushi-Tei + Pound + Colin's housewarming + Lecture on injury in thoroughbred horses + 我们不能是朋友

Finished reading "Inferno" quite some time ago. It was on Harvard professor Robert Langdon's "adventure" with Sienna Brooks, whom was later revealed to be a supporter and lover of geneticist Zobrist, who had supposedly developed a new biological plague that will kill off a large portion of the world's population in order to quickly solve the problem of the world's impending overpopulation.
Interesting topic. The plague that Zobrist created is revealed to be a vector virus that randomly activates to employ DNA modification to cause sterility in one third of humans, thereby reducing population growth to a more stable level. Seems like a "humane" way to deal with overpopulation? But who is willing to be the sacrifice?
Dan Brown has his way with words. Readers are kept at the edge of their seats for most chapters.

Been back from Kyrgyzstan on August 15 (thursday) and Potato came over to meet me for dinner on sat. Seemed like the food poisoning incident from overseas continued back at home as I have had loose stools for another week or so. *Definitely a different experience from other overseas trip I've had thus far, where I got to know myself a little bit better, but no regrets despite being eventful, and that we were generally not suited to the living conditions there.*
18/8/19 Sun: Had dinner with my in-laws. MIL was nice enough to give us some tau sa piah they bought from Penang.

20/8/19 Tues: Return to aerial class after two weeks' of break! Did some new moves. It's a challenge!

24/8/19 Sat: Met YB for her belated 31st bday brunch at Princess Terrace café at Copthorne King's hotel. Poor girl's got a bit of flu the day before our meet-up, and so she didn't really eat much of the Penang food available there. I found the buffet so-so. After that, we walked over to Tan Boon Liat building and window-shopped for a while in some of the shops she'd recommended. *Yay! We both wore our Yatay shoes out! What a match~*
26/8/19 Mon: Had lunch with Potato at Malaysia Boleh after his swim. As it was an early lunch, he bought me some sushi in case I'd go hungry in the afternoon hehe.
27/8/19 Tues: Did one of my least favourite pose, lizard pose tonight haha~ much a torture as always. I'm happy that I get to work most parts of the body every time in class, and to push myself just that little bit. It might not be obvious, but I do feel the improvement in myself.
28/8/19 Weds: Met Jess and ben for dinner at Jem's Sushi-Tei. Good food and company that night. Shared our Kyrgyzstan trip experience with Ben, and also a little on our future plans. *They say that friendships with secondary school friends are the ones that can last for life. I think I do believe!*
29/8/19 Thurs: It's the start of a new round of Pound session with Yvonne. *Omg she did remember me as the student from two months ago!* I had Jess joined me this time, and there were new tracks to which I was not used to either, especially one where we had to keep our legs lifted to engage in core work. There was a new plump girl in class, but maybe she hasn't exercised in a long time, hence she became breathless after a few songs. Luckily, Yvonne attended to her with sweets before she finally recovered.

31/8/19 Sat: Attended Colin’s housewarming at his new jumbo flat opposite Republic Polytechnic. Saw Richard (trackrider for Burridge), his wife and daughter there too, as well as some owners. 193 square metres is huge man! Oh, Colin has a pretty second daughter too, who's currently in Primary 3. *The amount of tuitions his kids have on weekends... sounds stressful huh?*

1/9/19 Sun: Went down to Esplanade to catch a Filipino musical performance by Potato's professor in NIE and his students. I actually think that the music's calming and soothing. Then, we met MM and Andre at Khatib and cabbed over to Himawari restaurant at Orchid Country Club for our dinner with my in-laws. MIL suggested Japanese for dinner as it was MM and Andre's second wedding anniversary on Monday! The set I ordered with sashimi don, tempura and cold soba ($38) was yummy but expensive la. *Thanks to FIL who footed the bill again!* Looks like everyone enjoyed their meals!

3/9/19 Tues: Diana let us tried Aerial Flow in class tonight. She even recorded a video for us. It was not easy but definitely fun.
4/9/19 Weds: Professor Chris Whitton, head of Equine Centre in Melbourne Veterinary School and Dr Peta Hitchens, an equine Veterinary Epidemiologist gave a talk on risk factors for injury in thoroughbred racehorses and how to prevent them to the trainers and management of the Club. Good learning for me as I got to know that bone fatigue over time is really bad for a racehorse. But, despite a recommended six to eight weeks' of rest between races for the bones to "self-repair", the suggestion and results are still on a per-case basis, and we have to rely on professional horsemen's experience to gauge the trainings and reduce the intensity as and when they think the horses need more rest, so as to reduce injuries in races.
