25/10/22 Tues: Met YB for dim sum at Jumbo Seafood at Ion Orchard for my belated birthday celebration. I enjoyed the carrot cake a lot and the chee cheong fun with prawn was not bad. We walked around the area to look at Mis Zapatos bag from Japan that I was eyeing at and also toys for Ethan. I tried Bacha Coffee’s Coffee Chocolate croissant ($3.50) and it was quite sweet imo. *Let’s see if I can get my hands on the bag in Japan, if not then wait for sales at Takashimaya.*
Diana taught us the “ghost pose” for Halloween-themed class tonight and we had lots of fun. The flow at the end was not difficult for me, so I successfully did them.
26/10/22 Weds: I’m almost convinced by myself that I probably have FH, given how my LDL levels still went up after six months even if I exercised and tried to control my diet in some ways, but it was annoying that NTFGH nor KTPH has received the results to the genetics test that I did in March/April this year when supposedly they should have already. Dr Tiong said I’d probably have to wait till February next year, which is around the period I take my blood test again. *It’s been eight years and my LDL levels have increased by about 65% from the first screening in 2014. Healthy HDL, optimal triglyceride levels but now I have to take Rosuvastatin (10mg) a day to see how well it can bring down my LDL levels.* Took the first pill at night and I don’t know if it was psychological or what but I did feel slight muscle ache on and off on mostly different parts of the limbs. *Read that this long-acting statin is quite a ‘potent’ one, so I reckon I’d want to reduce it to 5mg if the LDL levels drop by a significant percentage after three to four months.* I know dad’s cholesterol levels are all good, my brother should be too. My mum has been diagnosed with high cholesterol since 39 years old or so, so I took a look at her blood test results, also to find that her HDL levels are good, but the LDL is poor and triglyceride levels are too high as well (but have to take into consideration she is diabetic too).Met Justin for dinner at Kei Kaisendon at Woods Square Mall since he insisted to treat me to a meal haha. We ordered the two-person combo set meal and added some sides. It was very filling for me and I enjoyed their radish soup in squid stock a lot! It’s been long since we caught up so he was rambling to me about his full-time job as a sales consultant for a tech start-up and also sharing about Kaylee, her new job and their BTO coming in 2026. *Nice philosophy he has: prepare for the worse while you hope for the best. I guess it’s something that I agree too.*
27/10/22 Thurs: Decided to consult with a doctor at Bukit Batok Polyclinic for the ringing issue that has been bothering me since September. A few weeks after my ear syringing treatment to remove hardened earwax in my left ear, I started hearing the ringing and it gets quite loud at night, to the extent that I took a while to fall back asleep if I woke up. Nowadays, it goes away occasionally but still almost constantly present, but I managed to ignore it most of the time. Then, I hear this “electrical sound wave” kind of sound or an even higher-pitched ringing, less audible usually yet becomes obvious when I cover my right ear since a few days ago. They have referred me to an ENT at NTFGH and hopefully it’s nothing of a big concern.
PotaTOHs ate Taiwanese food at NTU’s North Spine Koufu for dinner. The honey-glazed fried chicken chop set he had was really nice but my braised meat rice was so-so. *NTU has changed to much!* The hour-long Opus 22.2 concert with highlights from Chess started at 8pm at the Nanyang Auditorium and I quite enjoyed it despite some off notes here and there. *They got Potato, the president up onstage to take a group photo in the end haha.*
29/10/22 Sat: Enjoyed yummy kimchi fried rice by Potato after a day at work!
31/10/22 Mon: Attended Chisa’s reformer pilates class this morning but I forgot to bring my anti-slip socks! Vanessa’s helper put both left socks into her bag too lol. Luckily, Julia lent her own socks to us both so we didn’t have to spend $28 each just to buy a pair of socks for today’s class! *The hamstring soreness most probably caused by Rosuvastatin these few days got better after class this morning. Hopefully the side effects of statin goes away soon.*
I cooked pork belly meat and celery with spaghetti in wafu-style for dinner! Potato helped me with the mixing of the sauce and gosh, the spaghetti turned out to be the highlight of the meal~ so shiok! *Happy with the purchase of my two crystal bracelets from Lavvalsg too! One with silver sheen obsidian, smoky quartz, moonstone and freshwater pearls, and the other with kyanite, dumortierite, labradorite and freshwater pearls. Really pretty.*
3/11/22 Thurs: Had lunch with Tracy, HM, Catherine and YM at Eastern Treasure restaurant. Their fried rice and hor fun were not bad. For dinner, Potato bought us the yummy honey-glazed chicken chop set ($6.10) from the Taiwanese stall at NTU’s Koufu! The amount of meat is a lot and it tasted so good~ though not as great as having it on the spot hehe. I wished they had more salted veggie though.
4/11/22 Fri: Practised one more move for六字诀in Qigong class this morning. Met Fran and PY at Tamjai Samgor at Chinatown Point to try their mixian for dinner. I ordered the one with pepper and mild spiciness, with cuttlefish ball, enoki shroom and chicken slices ($12.40). The texture of the mixian was nice, soup and cuttlefish ball were okay, but the chicken slices were damn tough. PY and Fran shared one with their sour and spicy soup base and I thought it was not bad.
We walked over to HaveFun KTV at Lucky Chinatown for our 3-hours singing session from 8 to 11pm. Fran booked the small room for us and they have three microphones, including one standing one at a corner woo. *$38 an hour per small room... expensive.* It’s been more than two years since I last went to KTV because of Covid-19… my voice already went hoarse after a few songs maybe because I tried too hard LOL. It was pouring by the time Fran and I got to Bukit Gombak and I only reached home at 12.30am~ been quite a while since I stayed up so late too.
6/11/22 Sun: Celebrated MIL’s 64th birthday in
advance with fresh strawberry yoghurt cake and blueberry yoghurt tart from
Paris Baguette! They both tasted good but I think majority of us preferred the
latter.
Tried the Balinese sandalwood body massage ($28) at Lifespa
at Carlton Hotel as part of HSBC cards’ birthday promotion and auntie Jaye was
pretty good and shared quite a bit about wellness and acupressure massages with
me. I felt pain when she massaged the left hip/buttock area and she said that
was where my坐骨神经was
and that I should avoid worsening the problem. There was pain near my left
shoulder blade and outer thigh area too. *My stomach also has a lot of湿气, which she advised me to
drink sweet potato or ginger water after lunch to help.* She
heated the bed up and massaged my eye area a little too… took 1.5hours in all!
As much as she is nice and I agree I’d like to do a massage once a month if
possible for wellness, the packages were rather expensive and I’m really lazy
to go to town for massage every month la! *End up buying for one more
massage session with Jaye ($80) because the sales consultant was very pushy… let’s
see how then.*
Cooked meatless dumpling and bok choy with the Taiwanese ramen for dinner~ added some chilli oil into the chicken stock soup. PotaTOHs also completed the flower Lego set at night yay!
Bought the Tender Corn Flower and Myriocladus preserved plants ($68) from Slow green to commemorate this flower anniversary~ no need to worry about watering them nor sunlight issue hehe!Participated in another session of Fight-do in the evening and man it’s one of the cardio exercise that leaves me panting and all itchy on the stomach (because of increased blood flow).
10/11/22 Thurs: Potato encouraged me to see a doctor regarding tinnitus that I experienced in my left ear and so I got an appointment with the Otolaryngology department at NTFGH this afternoon. I saw an audiologist first, and he got me to listen to earphones for different tones and pitches of sounds, and when I hear them, I click the remote. He tested both ears and one by one, after which I wore another smaller earpiece to do a further test. Mentioned to him that I did ear syringing in early August, the ringing went away after the earwax was removed but came back two to three weeks later and he mentioned though those services might be available, it might not be the most suitable way to clear earwax and could cause damage to the ear if not done properly.
After that, I saw the ENT specialist and I told her about the ringing in my left ear which got louder at night since end of September, but it goes away sometimes. Late October, I began to realise there’s another kind of high-pitched ringing on my right side whenever I lean over to the right or cover the whole ear, though it sounded more like those electrical signals we hear from computers. She saw that my outer ear was fine and used the tuning fork to do some test. After looking at my audiogram report, she concluded that the most possible cause could be Otosclerosis, which is the stiffening of bones in the middle ear, which is seen commonly in young women in their 20s or 30s (hearing loss problem that can be reversed with surgery). But then again, she mentioned that though the hearing in my left ear wasn’t as great as the right, the difference was marginal, so she let me decide if I want to take a CT scan or come back a year later to do the test again. *I opted for the latter and hopefully, the ringing/electrical wave sound goes away by itself.*
PotaTOHs went over to the Decathlon store at Joo Koon to
buy winter clothes, hiking shoes and walking shoes in the evening.
11/11/22 Fri: Did the whole六字诀气功and a quick version of the
usual气功set we
did in class this morning. Had a good Piloxing session in the evening too and enjoyed cold soba dinner with smoked duck cooked by hubby!
PotaTOHs caught “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” at Vivo City at night thanks to free movie tickets from EtiQa.
I thought I “previewed” some new “Avatar” characters in this movie before “Avatar 2” when the sub-mariner mutants appeared haha!
I still preferred the original Black Panther.
